W221 Transmission stucked in 2nd gear

Any senior bros here encountered this problem of gear not shifting up? It seems to stuck in gear 2. Need to stop car, off engine and restart then this intermittent problem will go off. Mine’s a 09 W221. Advice appreciated🙏🏼🙏🏼

bro, wow...ok. This is an apparent failure in the transmission...

Could be a couple of potential breakdowns. 

1. Torque converter;

2. ECU (the black thingy attached to the tranny block);

3. Valve body.

May be a quick change of Auto-Transmission Fluid?

Anyhow, stuck at gear 2 in Merc is termed as "limp mode"...

Likely transmission ECU faulty.

Damage - around $2800 for new piece include programming

Thank you Bros.. I’m going to send in to diagnose. Always happens after car parked for some time.. but ok after driven for awhile.. hopefully nothing too serious.. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

would think it is the ECU. Any weird sound when you finally get it working?

Bros, thanks for all the advice. Confirmed it’s the valve body ecu. Change the valve body ecu, service the valvebody , oil change and filter $2.8k.

Bro, now that it's done. Would further advice to change ATF every 40kkm to preserve the tranny, torque converter and valve body.

Also avoid switching gears when car is in motion (i.e. flipping the hand-gear switch). Let car comes to complete stop before change of gear to D or R...saves $$$
