Noob Questions On CLA Options

Hi All.

My first time buying a Merc so am very excited.

I was speaking to the Sales at CC and he advised me against getting the Command Online.

I honestly do not use GPS as much since my iphone has it. He told me Command Online is just that, besides the watching of DVD which I almost never used even in my current ride.

Is that really all?

Also, if I do not get the Command Online, will my screen size be smaller?

Are there any other options worth considering?

AMG option (S$10k) is worth getting.

I am also very tempted with the pano roof. Looks very nice especially on a white car.

If you regret opting for Comand, you can always retrofit it afterwards. Plus retrofitting the system is much much cheaper compared to what C&C charges for the option. And yes, it's basically a fancy GPS that integrates your car speed and direction fed from the ECU. You also get navigation instructions in your center instrumental console. Besides GPS, you get a DVD player which you can't use while the car is in motion, unless you install an aftermarket VIM device. You get a built in HDD to store your music, and of course a bigger screen.

FYI, maps are costly to update and you can't search through postal code.

I will only be finalising my orders on Monday. So taking this week to find out a little more.

So without command online, am I able to play MP3 songs on thumb drive?

I think I will most prob go for pano roof, harmon kardon.

Pano roof is nice to have but it can become a white elephant after a while....as in my case of my previous ride. It needs to be opened every now & then if u want to prolong the rubber seal lifespan. IMO, u r better off opting for the AMG kit at about the same price.

Harmon Kardon is definitely worth getting....the sound system is much much better than the standard fare. It's almost as good as the Mark Levinson found in LEXUS. Unfortunately, I get to enjoy my HK sound system only when I drive gently or stationary....the disadvantage of an AMG car....lol!

U can still play with usb flash drive or Bluetooth for MP3 playback.

My opinion is I will definitely choose AMG option over Command Online. Good to have but really when you scrutinize you don't really need those.

AMG different, you drive your merc people see your rear bumper can tell it's AMG.. hahaha. I didn't have those choices else it will definitely be my option

get the harmon kardon... u spent more alot of time driving on the road, and i assume in a normal manner.... that is my greatest regret

Pano roof is a nice option to have especially on good days when the weather is good. It's also a good option to have if you plan on driving up to Genting, plus it's comparatively not that expensive. Can consider the HK sound system if you're a sound guy. Retrofitting the HK sound system is much more expensive than having it factory installed, although there are other aftermarket options available.

 

The AMG sports kit is also a nice option to have plus it increases the OMV value of the car. However, if you plan to modify to the CLA45 AMG kit which is even more aggressive then I'll suggest you give this option a miss.

Actually I am looking at the CLA45. So dun really need the AMG option.

My current ride already has the Focal BE audio, but I cannot really tell any difference too much either. I think I prefer the sound of the sports exhaust.

Cool! Honestly, I personally can't hear the difference too. Better off with the exhaust noise! Options wise, you're pretty much set with the 45. Not much worth while extras to add besides the pano roof.

Command is bigger but GPS and DVD playback (who still watches DVD these days?!) are useless in my opinion

 

Iphone Google map updates for free. Just that the Iphone mount may be ugly to you.

I wanted to say that since I am getting the CLA45, do not have to go for the AMG Package.
