W204 Wind Noise

Hi,

 

anyone knows a reliable Merc workshop that is able to accurately diagnose the wind noise issue for my W204 pre fl? I sent to Chip Soon before and they did the tape method and noise still there hence shouldn't be the weather seals. Noise comes from the B pillar on both sides above 70~80km/hr. It sounds as if the window is not closed fully/ tightly. I strongly suspect it's the window seals. Thinking of Autospritz.

hi bro did u install any body kit on your ride or is your ride stock?

 

My ride also has slight noise from rear under-carriage so i am in same situation as you. But its very slight noise. I installed a c63 AMG kit but i doubt this is my problem. Perhaps it may be the shock absorbers coils or suspension failing

 

If i bring back to C&C now they may check and just say no fault detected and charge me afew hundred bucks. 

 

Not sure what to do now as i dont know if outside workshop can do a reliable diagnostic.

stock bro. However previous owner did full body spray paint. Parts might not be correctly or tightly reassembled i suspect too.

hmm that is a very real possibility as they need to take down the bumpers and doors to oven bake.  Does the noise get worse as you increase speed above 100kph? And do u notice any increased air-turbulence filtering into the cabin at higher speeds?

 

The concern here is safety and vehicle stability as you speed up.

 

Only way to find out seems to be to take the vehicle apart and reassemble it as i doubt they have wind tunnel testing facilities as this is not a Dusseldorf R&D or factory outlet?

 

If exhaustive testing is needed, perhaps only c&c pandan loop workshop has the testing equipment?

 

I suspect i will have to do the same for my ride

Just change the door rubber seal....problem will go away. There's a life span to these rubber ....even shorter if the car is always under the sun.

How much would that set back by by changing the door seals? Problem is there might not be a guarantee the noise would be 100% eliminated.

Very likely will solve the problem unless the car had an accident at the door or B pillar before. Door rubber seal won't cost u an arm or leg....can even DIY.

Can go to Autobacs to buy the seal. Cut out the length and stick on the pillar first to try. iirc, 2 blue note is all it takes.

 

No need to remove the original seal at this trial an error stage.

Need to source for original seals n replace. If buy add on seals, it will work but harder to close the door and those add on seals may nt look pleasant to the eyes.
