anyone has any ideas? The speed they release maps are too slow. Able to load our own? How to do it if possible?

No! You can't unlike Portable GPS with Garmin, TomTom, Papago, Galatico etc based maps which you can get frequent free update DLs from MalfreeMaps, MalSingMaps or even Navigas.net for Indonesia Maps.

However I can port my portable Garmin GPS POIs (Point of Interests, Red Light Cameras, Speed Trap) to the COMAND via the SDCard.

Red light cameras or speed trap will apear when in close proximity with a warning tone.

You need to know how to convert the Garmin gpi format to gpx format to do that.

A point to note is in S.E.A i.e Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei & HK which come under the same maps not many MBs are equiped with COMAND.

That means the Mappers i.e TeleAtlas are not movitated in producing good maps due to the weak demand for their maps.

That also means we have to pay a higher premium for map updates as compare to USA or European Maps.

One thing the COMAND has that a portable GPS like Garmin don't have is that when satellite signals are lost eg. in a tunnel, the COMAND will

continue to navigate by the speed of the car and the direction of travel via the steering wheels.

Yes, we don't need to navigate inside tunnels even long ones like KPE but you will not missed a turn or the the nagging voice from your Garmin "LOST SATELLITE RECEPTION" :)

I am waiting for the COMAND new maps hopefully to include MCE or else I will not update.

Cheers

I'm a MB Whore! :)

That is very enlightening. That's means I LL suck thumb or change to portable one. It is not only MCE, a few other places also changed. I heard the new command came with third party maps like portable GPS is using but I cannot verify the source of information so please take it like a pinch of salt.

Sama sama di sini Pak. My COMAND Maps are v2014. Unless MCE maps are ready, no point updating.

Me too, and if MCE maps come 2 to 3 years later, no point changing maps,... change car.
