2. INTRODUCTION

‘Christmas Wonderland’ brings with it a beautiful Christmas experience designed to spread the message of love and hope to help the disadvantaged children in Singapore. For this Christmas party, we target to gather 500 Christmas gifts to be first ‘hidden’ in a specially-built huge Christmas gift box. The ‘revealing’ of these gifts towards the end of the party will be the event’s main highlight; after which the gifts will be distributed to all the children who are present, as well as to those from the other homes and schools that were unable to attend the event.

Through this celebration filled with exciting games, entertainment, and also a pleasantly ‘gigantic’ surprise, we hope to create an unforgettable Christmas experience to these children who may have never had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas in such a ‘BIG’ way before. Another highlight of this party is also our bold attempt to set a Singapore record for the ‘Largest Gift Box’ ever displayed at a mega Christmas party for the disadvantaged children.

3. OBJECTIVES

1. To bring joy and fond memories to disadvantaged children from various special schools and homes, by accumulating 500 Christmas gifts for them.

2. To organize a record-breaking event for the ‘Largest Gift Box’ ever displayed at a mega Christmas party for these children.

3. To create awareness and volunteering opportunities by bringing together CityCare volunteers, business individuals, participating sponsors and disadvantaged children to celebrate Christmas in a ‘BIG’ way.

4. To spread the message of love during this Christmas season through giving ‘BIG’ and serving the less privileged.

4. PARTICIPATING BENEFICIARIES – Disadvantaged Children

Children of Lower-Income Families Receiving Help from Family Service Centres (FSC) in Singapore:

4. Bukit Ho Swee FSC

5. Care Corner FSC - Queenstown

6. Covenant FSC

7. Daybreak FSC

8. Fei Yue FSCs (Bt Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Yew Tee)

9. Moral FSCs (Bedok North, Bt Panjang)

10. HELP FSC (for single parents)

11. Tampines FSC

These children will be classified into 3 age groups based on the following age ranges:

i. 5 – 6 years old

ii. 7 – 9 years old

iii. 10 – 12 years old

5. STRATEGY

We aim to receive full sponsorship from corporations on the 500 Christmas gifts (worth S$5,000). The cost for each gift is S$10, and they can be bought in bulk, based on the total amount of money each organization would like to contribute. Alternatively, companies may consider ‘adopting’ a specific beneficiary group by sponsoring a bulk of gifts for all the children in this group. Gifts will be categorized according to the 3 age groups and gender of the children. CityCare is also targeting 300 beneficiaries & 200 participants (CityCare volunteers, corporate partners, business individuals & their clients) to participate in this mega Christmas party.

This event is an opportunity for corporations to ‘give back’ to their community as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative. They can also be involved as partners by providing their expertise, such as F&B services, manufacturing toys, logistics, etc.

Besides phone invitations, CityCare will also send out publicity material and invites of the event (via post mails, emails & handphone messages) to our partnering schools, corporations and volunteers to participate and/or serve at this Christmas party. All corporate/school sponsorships and contributions will receive credit acknowledgement through our publicity materials and media releases. We are targeting for at least 3 media coverage on this event.

6. PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

Included in the event is a half an hour stage show, with song and dance items and magic acts specially designed for the children’s entertainment. The carnival-style set-up will be another draw for the children, as they get to play on big inflatables and win themselves prizes at the different game stalls. Fringe activities include balloons sculptors and mascots who will be mingling around with the children. Also set up will be a Santa’s corner where the children can take instant photos with Santa Claus and bring home a candy cane each.

A Guest of Honor will be invited to grace the event, and for an opportunity to interact with the children and volunteers.

The main attraction of the party will be the opening of the gigantic Christmas gift box. The Guest of Honor will be invited to reveal the 500 gifts (along with balloons and confetti) for the children, which will mark the highlight of the record-breaking event of the ‘Largest Christmas Gift’ for disadvantaged children in Singapore.

Tentative Program Outline

1– 3 pm: Carnival

3 – 3.15 pm: Gather children for stage show

3.15 – 3.40pm: Opening: Emcee to get everyone to sing 1 Christmas carol

J7 to perform 1 song and dance item

1 group of beneficiaries to perform (KIV)

Magic show

3.40 – 3.45pm: Guest of Honor speech and GIFT REVEAL

3.45 – 4.15pm: Distribute gifts to children according to their homes / schools

4.15 – 4.30pm: 1 Christmas carol
