W124 16valves Model - Need comment on Engine Performance

Noticed the car abit dragging when engine is hot (Say after travelling above 30km). Noticed the drag especially going up a sloppy road.

The problem disappear upon engine oil change(1st 500km to 1000km) next you can feel the drag coming slowly. Worse around 8000km after Syn oil change. Is this normal for 16 Valves model. Experience any mod to overcome this ?.

Bro, what do you mean by dragging....., you mean lose power....

I experience sudden loss of power only on up slope, when speed is less than 50KMH..

cos when less than 50 KMH the rpm is below 1.5K so this tank will feel very draggy cos of its weight. the car's power band is 2.5k above

i have a final facelift w124 W220 TE n frm 1st gear to 2nd gear,it drags till 3500 rpm b4 jerking change to 2nd gear..wad can be wrong?Do i need a gearbox overhaul?

Bro, lead foot? Or feather light foot?

lead foot..n i get abt 380km on a full tank..thats kinda bad rite..now i drive on 'E' mode with a lighter footing.. :bootyshake: Slightly better.mileage still observing

Mine is a '86 230TE. Full tank, I managed 500 consistently at S mode.

hi GP,could it be urs is a 8 valve n mine is a 16 valve? could that have affected de FC?also i tend to drive is harder..now trying to reduce pressure on de pedal..

16V should give better FC!! Our cars are tanks! Play with half depress when speed reaches 60 to 70, rpm around 2k and above, that's when you will enjoy the real power! And this also will give better FC!
