overcharging of tires

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, i went to a tyre shop and got a guy to charge my tires for me. When i went to the petrol station i found that my tires were charged to 350kpa. The tires had markings that it cannot be charged to more than 270 kpa.

That left me to wonder. Can tires be overcharged? And how much pressure do u guys charge for your 19s? Would love to have some feedback for my own research. Thanks!

For a moment I thought you were carrot buying tires. :)

For tire pressure depends on car models, wheel sizes & load.

For my W212 19" non-staggered 245/35/19

Front 240kpa

Rear 260kpa

When I was on 18 staggered front 245/40/18 & rear 265/35/18

Front 260kpa

Rear 280kpa

I find these tire pressure settings good.

I measured the pressure after the car came back from CnC - Benz German specialist clinic inspection.

Just by looking at your title.. would have thought like Unker... and would have said burn down the tyre shop...

The weight of the car & occupants is not equally distributed on the front & rear axle

Hi Boss

Is it the bigger the tyres, the higher the pressure ?

because I checked the recommendation pasted on my petrol cover

It says for 17" tyre, front only 29psi and back also 29psi or 30psi which is way way much lower then what you pump

Somehow, I find it like abit under inflate

So I pump instead front 30psi back 31psi, so dunno correct or not ?

thanks

I no boss!

I am a coolie!

Every month end I take coolie kan! :)

Yes & No!

You can see when I am using 18" staggered, my front is 260kpa while on 19", I pumped only 240kpa front

I take the recommended tyre pressure as a starting guide line.

From there I would increase and decrease tire pressure setting till I find settings that suit my feel & or sound (different speed) of the wheels when the ride goes over humps, road irregularities (especialy jointings on flyovers) and going around bends.

If you are not sure, drop by CnC MBC tyre & free nitogen bay and ask them what pressure settings are right for your wheels set up.

I believe they know better! :)

Cheers
