Today while i was driving out of a open car park, a car was reversing n not noticing my car. I horn repeatedly at him but he continue to reverse n bang into my car. Both of us get out of our cars n i told him that he is in the wrong. I ask him how he will settle the damage but he said his car was also damage. I told him then we call the police. He started to be nasty n want to beat me up. I move away from him n he doesnt want to give me his particulars. He challenge me to a fight. I told him that then i will report to insurance. After taking photos then he drove off. He has a whole body of tattoos and speak like a gangster. I lodged a insurance report n IDA advise that nobody was injured and lodging a police report would be no use.i called the police and they told me the same thing. I regretted not fixing a camera in my car. The repair cost is abt $480 which i have no intention to claim against his insurance. But what i m afraid is he will claim against my insurance instead and claimed i bang his car from the back.i feel very unjustifiable. Do we have no justice against such hooligans n bullies? Do we have to just swallow it? I feel like writing to the newspaper forum n get some justice.

insurance side u can choose nt to claim one ma... but he will kanna hit n run case right?

If you want to make a hit and run report, road rage, etc. you'll still need to back your case up with evidence or witnesses. If not as you said, the police won't or can't do anything. Same goes for your insurance. End of the day it's your words against his and unfortunately, you are the car behind. As Ah Bui said, best to check the area for CCTV cameras that will help with your case.

 

Having a DVR in the car might be an eye sore to some, however it's a device where you never know how important it can be till you actually need it.

Check for cctv around the area or look around for cars with a car cam which might caught the incident. If not, I heard of some cases where they can analyse the angle of damage to determine if the car reversed into you.

Friends, there are CCTV in the car park. At that time, also never think about cars park around there that have car camera. Just F luck to kana this. As wat Mark bro say, no evidence and witness, it's just words against words...maybe write to the Straits Times Forum and let the police reply to the Forum....

no offence to you, but I have a fair share of meeting driver who simply do not give a shit, when half my car is out, they still squeeze behind.....they are just plain pain in the butt....

when the incident happen, you should have just stayed in your car and call police telling them that the other driver is threatening you. In that case, police will have to come...

My two cents. Police will tell u the rule of thumb on the report matter. But it is dependent on how u wish to pursue it. If you felt threatened, u can still file the police report but u have to do it asap. Even more so if he had threatened you or also told you he will remember your car plate. If I were you and that person had mentioned certain things which threaten my safety, I will file the police report. Though they will say can't do anything, they will advise further shd u wish to pursue, u can bring yr report to the sub court and lodge the case. The driver will be summoned to court. If he has a previous incarceration record or any history of nuisance in public, assault or other penal offenses, the judge will be looking at them. Of course, this case might require u to hire a lawyer. So if you have the means and the time, u can pursue the matter and make that idiot have sleepless nights

By then, he was revering into my car...anyway just unlucky to meet such person...the accident happen and we get out of the car and assessed the damage. Bro Paralleluni, guess u are right that I shud just file a police report. Just incase he found out my address from my car plate and do something to me or my car, etc. At least the case is file in the police report...

At least for record if police isn't taking action (and most probably won't).

The report will come handy if in the future something happens with the same guy or car to u.
