Consumption of Engine Oil

Guest Rysk

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new with my W203 after driving for 1.5 mths.

After driving for about 2k on mileage. Checked thru the cluster showing need to top-up 1 litre of Engine Oil (before that was normal)

Is it normal that our engine will consume engine oil?

If is so, what is the average consumption for the engine oil?

2 km of travelling = 1L of engine oil ??? This cannot be usual.....

Better send your car to check, it could be the casket leak.... or wear pistol.... or signal for you to go test drive the W204.......

Maybe I will go for one servicing first.. then monitor again from there..

But I think for every 10,000km.. sure there will be some loss of engine oil which we need to top-up rite!!

depending on the oil used. if natural oil, yes. there will be top ups. but for synthetic, its very very minimal. in fact no need. i could be wrong.

And more feedback from other bros/sis.. is that true that using synthetic will be different.. very very minimal needed to top-up for every 10,000km travelled.

Maybe the next servicing I'll use Mobil 1 synthetic.. then monitor from there.

Very funny now.. this evening I was waiting to pick-up my wife at HarbourFront.

As it was early, I switched off my engine & waited for 10 mins... since nothing to do, I check my engine oil level on my cluster. This time round shown "Engine Oil Level OK"...

I have never topped up my engine oil in my 4.5 years of ownership. Rysk should send the car for checking. Could be just the oil sensor.

My fren driving a C180 (W203) now milege 90,000. He don't even know how to check thru the cluster.

So I just help him to check since he already travelled almost 8000km after the last servicing done... but it shows OK!

As for me, what I will do is to go for one servicing, then monitor from there. ;)

Thanks for some advice!
