Anti-theft devices / gadgets?

Hello All,

 

I am new to this Forum and would like to find out what do you use (apart from the standard alarm system in the car) to prevent your car from being stolen. I have read about steering lock etc but it doesnt prevent a car from being lifted and towed away, for eg.

Thanks Odessus. Do you mean something like the GPS tracking system? That would mean looking for the car after it has been stolen? I was more keen to find out what can be done at the point when, say, the car is being lifted before its towed away.  I read somewhere (but cant seem to locate it now) that one can set the alarm to go off when the car is lifted...boy, i feel like a dinosaur...

Most good alarm systems come with motion sensors...they will sound when the car is lifted or moved. Nothing new...& it's 100% not foolproof. Car thieves today are very high tech & familiar with most alarm systems. Sadly many people ignore such alarms when sounded as there are too many false alarms....when was the last time you checked someone's car that had its alarm triggered?

Does anyone know what kind of alarm system the 2014 W212 will be installed with for the SG market? Asked the salesman at C&C but it seems I am the rare dinosaur asking such question .... and maybe it was a feature of the car that they have not been trained (?)...
