Lowering the car

Hi bros, want to find out about lowering the car.. As with my previous thread I mentioned about upgrading from 17inch stock rims to 18 inch, I was recommended to lower my ride to make the car look more solid.. of course, the downsides of lowering are also explained by some bros here.. 

 

I would like to find out exactly how much should the car be lowered by?? 10mm ??

 

Also when you guys lowered your car, did you change the entire coil/springs or just cut the stock coil/springs ??

 

Lastly which workshop would you guys recommend to do the lowering ???
