EngineOilsComparedcoverpage2.jpg

Test was carried out using the Falex Lubricity Tester, similar to the Timken OK Load Rating Test.

EngineOilsCompared1.jpg

Shell Helix did badly!

EngineOilsCompared2.jpg

EngineOilsCompared3.jpg

Mobil1 did badly too..At least the cheaper Mobil Synth outperforms their flagship model Mobil 1.

EngineOilsCompared4.jpg

EngineOilsCompared5.jpg

Castrol Formula R also did badly..

EngineOilsCompared6.jpg

2nd most ex...Red Line didn't do well either..

EngineOilsCompared7.jpg

I bought Royal Purple , 1 box of 10 bottles, 10W50 fully syn.

at $12 per bottle, (each bottle is 1 quart = 0.9+ Litres)

So 3.6 Litre is $36.

1 bottle of mobile one is around $70+ (4litre)

So isnt Royal Purple much more cheaper?

No need group buy , cant bargin also,

cos Price is already very very cheap only $135 fpr box of 12 bottles, (per bottle is 1 Quart)

self collect

just call these mervyn from vantivetech.

91073464

Just call them currently they have

5w-20 5w-30 10w-30 10w-40 15w-40 20w-50

and

5w (Slightly more ex at $ per box)

Fully Synthetic Characteristics ,

5W, 10W, 15W, smaller = able to use at lower envronment temp.

The last 2 digit represent thickness of oil.

20,30,40, 50 smaller = thinner,more nosiy engine

bigger = thicker = engine silent

So Jenvid not need to buy 0W40 & 0W30, cos 0W are for those freezing weather. for spore wealther, it makes no diff using 0w 5w 10w or even 15w.

What u want is if u are casual drive go for a thinner oil like 5w-20.

If u want to go tracking or also rev your engine go for 10w-40 15w-40 20w-50

(the last 2 digit represents the thickness of the oil)

Hey thks !!!! Switch from 30 to 40 oil & my avg oil temp increase by 10 degC. It is now hovering at 110 while previously it sits bet 95 to 100.

I am tempted... can specify the oil I want or bring my own when servicing at C&C?

No we can't, we have to use their Shell Helix as long as you service with C&C.

Near my office there is this shop that is stocked up with purple bottle engine oil, I think it must be royal purple, going to check it out after reading this review. Before this, I thought it was auntie selling some cheap oil.

Has anyone tried it yet?
