Stock upgrade question

Has anyone tried to upgrade the amps and speaker for W211 and keep the stock hu? Mine come with Audio 20 and 6 disc CD/MP3 changer.

How much sound quality improvement do you experience?

I'm thinking to keep the stock HU is because the current stock HU with the display and the steering wheel control looks seamless and extremely classy. I feel that putting an after-market hu will looks out of place.

retaining stock hu is possible with jus a line-converter output for amp signal.

sq is greatly compromised. putting a @lpine 701 & hidding it away will be a better option. JL @udio clean-sweep is also another viable option.

I used the original HU on my W211, added a JL Audio 5 channel amp, running Dynaudio 240GT in front and Canton in the rear plus a JL 10W6v2 Sub. On top of it, I have an Alpine H701 and C701

Can you let me know how much is the total setup? Where did you do the work?

I can't really remember the actual costs but it's about 4.5k. I used a guy in ubi for the entire set up and put in the Alpine at Audioedge

That must be a real nice setup. BTW, do you have any picture to share with us? Thanks.
