Questions about Keyless Go

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'm new to this forum, and am currently waiting eagerly to get my C180. Been reading up a lot on this forum, and really learnt a lot (and kanna poison too by the ICE section... should stay away from it for a while!). :)

That being said, I do have some questions on Keyless Go that I hope someone can guide me, as below:

1) After I off my engine, I step out of the car and forget to lock the door with the key still in my pocket, does the car lock itself after a certain time (e.g 5 mins or so) once I am out of range?

2) Does it give any warning of weak battery? Don't wanna get stuck with weak battery and cannot start the car. :(

3) I read it is quite hard to lock yourself out of the car while the key is still inside, but there are still possibilities such as when the key is near your mobile. Anyone has any encounters?

Thanks!!

Hi Kenneth...this is what I can decifer for U regarding your questions....

1: I did not really test the features but I was told by SE that the car will lock itself once it cannot sense the key within 2 mins... But that I'm not sure

2: The dashboard will tell U that once it sense the key is not that responsive... with word and RED backing

3: As long as your key is in the car... Boot included... the car cannot be locked from outside..... But with the car being keyless... the key should be on your body... so should not happen...

Hope you get your answers......

Thanks Ah Bui!

Haha, I have a very close friend I called Ah Bui also. Will definitely go for the gatherings if I can once I get the car to learn more! :)

1. I don't recall reading in the manual that the car, once unlocked via Keyless-GO, will relock itself. However, it will relock itself after I think 1-2 mins if you press unlock on the remote and do not open the door (so not via Keyless-GO).

2. Ditto. Zai one, don't worry. Can last for 1-2 years without running flat. It as TWO CR2025 battery wor.

3. Ditto. However! I did manage to lock my key in the boot once. The key was buried in my backpack with a lot of electronic gizmos. I dumped my bag into the boot, press the boot close button, the car did not detect the presence of a key in the boot, BOOM, it closed with the key inside. I had to go get the spare key.

(Usually, if it detects the key, it will close halfway and reopen itself. For non-powered boot, it will let you close but it will open the boot again. That is the signal to you that the key is still in the car.)

1) I had tried and the car auto lock in 2min.

2) Yes the dashboard will show as fault weak battery or u will get key not dejected warning

3) Please note that the key may lock itself in the boot if ur doors are lock. But it will not lock down when Your doors are open. Please bear that in mind. But usually it will detect the key and open up. Well a key in the locked boot happens to me before in JB. Was told by my SE that the boot is the safest place in the car, there is no way to open the boot other than drilling the boot or with a key.  Lock picking does not work for the boot.

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

Thanks too~ But for point 3, if the key is in the boot, wouldn't it be near enuff such that I can just open the door since the car can still detect the boot?

Sorry for all the questions.

Bro nope the anti theft system will so call deactivate the key while in the boot. Yes its near enough but its programmed to be deactivated while in the boot.

Thanks too~ But for point 3, if the key is in the boot, wouldn't it be near enuff such that I can just open the door since the car can still detect the boot?

The car will autorelock (if you unlock and do not open the door), but will not autolock.

So the answer is No to this question " After I off my engine, I step out of the car and forget to lock the door with the key still in my pocket, does the car lock itself after a certain time (e.g 5 mins or so) once I am out of range."
