Does Hurricane has the filter for the w204?

according to all stainless steel filter manufacturer.

They state the holes between the steel mesh are very very small. so the dirt that can pass though them r too small to cost any damage to the engine .

and the fine dust will be totally burned in the combustion chamber in the piston.

I had the stainless steel filter on my rx8 and trajet.

I cant guarantee that the dust will be fully burned during the combustion as what the filter manufacturer states.

But I can tell u that the pipe after the filter before the engine are quite dirty.

Im not sure is it due to the steel filter, or will the pipe be as dirty with the paper filter.

thnx bro for the feedback. i will ask the boss who distribute Hurricane products here to see if he can demo and test the product in our monthly meetup. big savings for us if it works. regards, allen

I heard the Hurrican Air Filter holes too big, good for performance but not good for engine as dirt get in easily.

Just Bought and install the Stainless Steel mesh filter.

I can feel that the engine runs more smoothly. especially at higher rpm.

I was told that the original paper filter cost around $40? (is it true?) and need to change a new one every time u service your car.

And the stainless steel filter is S$150 and can be use for a long long time.

Therefore can save money buy changing to the steel filter.

ITs definitely worth the money.

Different viewpoint - most pple in SG keep car 3-5 yrs and if you do say average 2,000km/mth, no big deal about maintenance. But if you buy car and plan to keep min 10yrs, then maint. becomes very impt.

Hi,

Sorry for pulling this old thread out of the closet.

But i was wondering on the outcome of this. Any brothers here have any recommendations or advice on switching to a Hurricane steel air filter?

Anyone has done tests into the filtration capabilities of the hurricane steel filter and the normal OEM filter or K&N filter?

Will the fine particles that get past the filter be significantly damaging to the combustion chamber and the engine system? What problems might arise?

I'm really thinking of changing to an aftermarket air filter like the Hurricane Steel filter. But no idea if it's advisable as nobody is able to tell if the filtration capabilities are good/near/better than OEM standards.

Do advice.

Thanks a lot!

Alex

Consider the fact that Mercs are well engineered and something as simple as an air filter would have been given much consideration when designing the engine system. As you already know, modern Mercs are extremely hi tech vehicles. You are advised not to switch to parts that are not designed with OEM integration in mind otherwise you'll end up with a whole host of other gremlins like check light warnings etc.

Short of putting the product through its paces on a benchflow test and a before and after run on the dyno, the effect is likely psychological due to the "noisier" breathing.

2 cents

Hi bro, I was thinking of a simple drop-in Hurricane filter. Not those open pods kind.

Anyway, thanks to you and gatecrasher for the inputs. Will re-consider. :)
