Hey there everyone,

First of all, happy chinese new yeasr and happy holidays to one and all!

I am contemplating getting a second hand S280...about 2006 or 2007.

Would you advise that this is a good idea? Especially in terms of repairs etc?

I have a S280L and well its a good choice of ride just to let you know S280 is not a cheap ride to maintain any major maintenance for example suspensions, engine bay  will cost thousands of dollars...for example my S280 had 2 faulty Airmatic  Suspension last year and it cost me 1,700 each. and do know this car drinks lots of petrol....City driving i am clocking 14-15L/100km....

But overall its a good car. Do look out for the mileage and maintenance records if u can retrieve them... when you drive the ride do it feel jerky when u reach 4 RPM/1000.... And do send it in for STA evaluation when you buy the car it should be in Grade C if u managed to get Grade B it will be a Plus point. S280 do not have any in 2007....Mine was the last batch Mid 2005.  W221 came out in 2005 2nd quarter of the year.

Its a good ride if u ask Oldman here I managed to clock 215KM/h in NS last month.....Its smooth till I hit 200km/hr when it starts to wobbler a little....The suspension just could not take the stress.

This car should be under SGD90k all in right now

The world Most dangerous thing is the Vehicle. Its not about the machine weather its slow or fast. Its the person who is controlling it. The driver is the brain of the Machine. Not the machine itself.

If the driver reacts slow even the most powerful ABS(Auto braking system) will not help. The driver has to give the car the command in Order for the car to react. Afterall he is the brain of the car.

Why not try W221

S300 or S350L it would be slightly above 100k for 2006

Its better and fuel consumption is not that much, more power and HP and also has more in build electronics as well....

Generally it feel the same when you drive that ride, why not compare both of it?

Thanks for the 3 different models from sgcarmart. Reason I am more inclined towards the S280 is because of the initial outlay. Unfortunately my budget is limited. : )

When I had my first car, a COE Toyota Starlet, it was point a to point b....after that one, it was point a to b in more comfort...and with the huge COE premiums currently, I will prob notbe able to afford new ride. So next best choice is get a new reliable car and drive it for the next few years, till PQP drops to a reasonable level and renew for 10 years. I am currently driving a Camry so the leap to an S280 would already be quite huge.

haha. "flood free" is now a required declaration for pre-owned cars.
