W211 Aircon

Diesel

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Driving a W211 E200. Aircon is not cold and was advised to change compressor. Things only improve when the car is travelling (cold aircon when driving only). Aircon becomes not cold and stuffy when car is stationary (eg traffic light) or slowing down (eg Going up carpark). What could be the problem? What other things need to be changed? Thanks!

I have an issue with the 2 aircon vents in the center. No air is coming out, only the 2 sides and rear has aircon. Anyone faced similar issues before?

If your E200NGT is the pre-facelift model, this is a typical issue.

What you have to do is press the "Auto" aircon button, let the car select it's own fan speed (likely at full blast), then you readjust it down manually.

Check and see if yours work that way.

Unforunately, the auto button does not work in my case :(

Sent to a/c specialist to check.

Instead of just topping up, let them vacuum out all the old gas before topping up new one.

Monitor the car for a couple of day to see if there are any leakage.

I had the same "problem", and your suggestion worked. But now, fan speed on both sides are weaker compared to the middle console. Initially, the fan speed on the middle console is weaker.

Is this a problem which I can simply ignore?

I suspect your problem is due to low on refrigerant.

There isnt enough quantity of refrigerant to fill the entire evaporator.

I use to have similar problems..so I sent the car to an aircon specialist workshop to vacuum and refill all refrigerant. (cost about $35)

Voila !!!   ...problems solves...since then, I make it a point to sent my car to the specialist once every year to check, vacuum and refill aircon gas.

Thanks. I tend to think that the vehicle's components are at fault whenever problems like these occur. I'll probably bring it down to an air-con specialist to get it checked as well. Might as well, really.

If a simple top up can rectify my issue, I'll be over the moon.

Is there anyway to fix this issue other than pressing the “Auto” button? mine will need to be off for a few minutes before pressing “Auto” to work.
