these are W201, 190e, different from W124 200e

Yes I know they are not the 200e. I was simply admiring the cars in that glossy gleaming black! ;) I think 200e can look awesome in black too!

Hi Gill, which model of W124 are you driving? I think you should be able to go faster than 120 km/hr. Personally i hv hit over 130..

Ok i found your model..its the 200e registered 1990. I believe its the 8 valve model, yes? Personally i feel your car can max higher than 120kph. If you'd not mind me checking out your engine, since you stay at cck (me too!), I could try to see what else needs looking into. ;)

Good morning folks at SgMerc and fellow MB owners! Arise and shine this new day!

Now reaching the end of my tank and mileage is about 390km. Looks like the figure will stay around 420-440km per full tank, for now. Few days ago, i dropped by a workshop dealing with exhaust systems. Had thought of installing this silencer but was advised LTA would not approve. Gone are the days when LTA only checks sound level. These days, if your exhaust system is not original, or without some certification, you'd have to reinstall your old originals back. And this has been for many years already.

So i decided to try something else which was suggested. Will update when i get that done and then monitor FC again. ;)

These days, no time to go JB to top up, so fill up some at the local pumps. The FC more or less about 8km per litre. Just waiting now, to try the tip given by the mgr of the exhaust workshop. Hope to add 1 km per litre. That will make significant difference in the FC.

Today is a game changer for me!

This morning i went JB to settle some matters, unfortunately i spent more than i expected. Hence i did not return to Singapore with a completely full tank. Just over 3/4 tank.

Brought my beloved wheels to an exhaust specialist..pre-arranged a week ago. He showed me just how much carbon deposits had built up over the years and we proceeded as discussed. Taking out every bit of carbon that he set his eyes on, soon my car was breathing freely again, like a new car.

Now i can't wait to try out my 'new' car...like getting a new lease of life. The car runs more smoothly, with more vigor...like inviting me to floor the accelerator...heh..aint gonna do that..yet. ;)

Will update again as soon as i can. Cheers!!!

Okay! I'm almost at the finishing line, for this full tank, that is. To recap, a few days ago i took to JB to fill my tank but overspending on other items resulted in my not being able to fill my tank up to the brim.

My fuel needle was slightly over 3/4 and i took that as my start line. Had a small procedure done to remove most, if not all the carbon deposits in my exhaust system.

Today my odometer read 340km with probably 10 more km in the tank. That's perfectly fine with me because i did not have a full tank to begin with. In total honesty, i did not remember exactly how much fuel i put in, so I'd take a small pinch of salt and add about 100-120 km to my finishing numbers this time round.

I'd'd make doubly sure to begin with a completely full tank next round.

Last night before i reached home, my fuel meter showed amber and odometer read 362km. This was expected as I did not start with a full tank. In fact, 362 was slightly more than i expected. Yes i hoped i could reach 400 but I didn't expect to reach 400.

Will be topping up again, maybe tonight, to full n start over. This time, and i'd expecting from hereon, I'll be looking forward to seeing at least 480-500 or more...will update again soon.

Sorry for the long wait. After finishing the last tankful, I wasn't too delighted with the mileage of 430-435..decided to monitor my nx tankful, which gave a slightly lower mileage, due to more short distance trips..my next gadget to install, would likely be cold-air-induction.

Currently scouring for generic setups, it'll probably take some time before i find the right one.

The work on the exhaust certainly gave the car increased smoothness while cruising on the expressways but did not do as much for my mileage as i expected. Perhaps its a work in progress, and will show results over the longer haul.

Past 2 days, i brought my wheels for tuning. Apparently the oil fuel mixture had been pretty rich, so it explains why my pocket had been suffering. Some further tuning needed, i was advised. I will get that done as soon as my schedule permits.

After calibrating to burn lean, some of that additional power was trimmed in favor of better FC. So the past 2 days i hv seen more acceptable FC, never mind that I can't present a challenge to the other eager motorists at the lights.

Will update again when i hv the full mileage.

Just went yesterday to JB for groceries, car wash, buying meds and topping up about 60litres to my tank before back to Singapore.

My last tankful yielded 465 km, which is a significant improvement from 380km for my very first tankful, so I'm looking forward to yet better mileage for this round. Today i will bring my wheels for further tuning.

Will update again when improvements seen. Till then.

Today i brought my car to workshop for further works. Replaced a faulty vacuum pump and calibrated the timing. The new vacuum pump in place, my car felt more energetic and not draggy. Now i only have to clock my mileage and see how much difference it actually makes. So far so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that i can finally reach 500km per full tank. Wish me luck! ;)

Having gone just past half tank, fuel meter needle pointing approximately 45%, my first half tank gave me 280-285 km. It used to be around 220-240 km or slightly less. Its a happy development for me. Looking forward to the full tank mileage.

I still want to install a cold air induction kit some time later. That may be my final step to improving my car's FC. But it will not be anytime soon. Let's see how the next few tankfuls deliver. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Just been to JB last night for my weekly wash, groceries and petrol. My last tank gave me about 485 km (estimated 8.1 km per litre) and I'm hopeful i can stretch it some more as i continue this journey of MB ownership.
