ST: Hard to go gaga over GLA

Today's Straits Times (21 June) has the GLA review. The reviewer basically wrote that the GLA does not drive well and the car is hard to place whether it is a hatch or a SUV.

 

Anyone agrees or disagree? Especially if you have test driven it.

I've not tried the GLA but have tried its sister car the CLA. Don't expect FWD cars to handle as well as RWD cars. I was given a CLA when I rented a car in Italy recently. Don't like how twitchy and unpredictable it feels especially in high speed corners. Steering is too light and has not much feedback, throttle is also too light for a car that is suppose to be sporty. Build quality and finishing doesn't feel as exquisite as compared to the other Mercedes range of cars. Whenever I exceed 140Kph, soft rattling sounds can be heard around the car. Although it's a rental, the CLA I got was practically brand new and had only done 2000km when the keys was passed to me. Quite disappointing.

For me, it look more of a hatch and it don't have the base height of a SUV should be.
