W124 car "JERK" - Which mechanic is the best ??

Hi bros,

I have this problem of my 16v W124 experiencing "JERKINESS" when travelling near idle speeds.

The car actually surges forward and backwards ! This happens INTERMITTENTLY.

Mode

While gear in "P", either press BRAKE or NOTHING is depressed

Example

1) Warm up car 1st thing in the morning

2) Driving round carpark searching for parking lot in shopping ctr

3) Exit from expressway, goinf along a circular road, heading to a main road

4) Reversing the car to park or parallel park

A) Suggested remedy - R*chmotor

Originally mentioned possible leakage in manifold (inlet) but later recommended a TOP overhaul

--> Doesnt make sense when I changed most parts, felt they are pulling a quick one =p

B) Suggested remedy - Z*n Motor

Changed the ignition coil / air intake cover and checked the battery

--> Did not have time to proceed as the boss was going back to M'sia =p

C) Suggested remedy - MBM

1/2 day check on sparks / spark connector / ait intake was ok

--> Will revisit MBM again (placing the bets on them), hoping they can find the leakage !

I do hope its not a sign of scrapping this vintage baby !

Pls, experts out there in the forum, would appreciate your valuable inputs -)

(ps : What do u guys think of Yxxx ? he was rather impatient and told me to visit other mechanics after they cldn't find the issue for 1/2 day)

hi tussils88, go to mbm to have them check you car. i have had similar experience with my W203 ie the car jerk (to and fro quite violently) when idle at traffic junction and it feels like it is going to die on me. went to mbm and have it checked and was told that it was due to some worn out hoses. had it replaced and the car is back to normal. hope this help.
