Rear Axle Leaking

Hi Guys

My ride (W211 Pre facelift model) just came back from a minor surgery to replace the rear axle oil seal and reseal (this is what they describe). When I found out the labor was close to $600/- I almost %%%%##, is this the norm ?

From where? See&See? Costing is difficult to compare, provided is exactly the same issue.

....see & see said that they don't have the "kit" to replace the seals , I would have to change the whole axle which will cost me about 4 to 5K :ohmy: . excluding labor.

so i went to this WShop and they said no need to change axle, just change the seals will do cause axle still ok. was quoted this price, but since I din't have time to source around, I let them do the job. am not complaining but just want to hear what others who have similiar experience have to share.

Eric, 1st it's the fuel leak. Now it's rear axle leak....what have you been doing at the rear??

yep....looks like my rear is getting the bashing....:-) i wonder what's going to happen next.

maybe change to an SUV where the rear seat can fold down....kekekeke.
