Wana gather some comments, thoughts on whether it is worth while to purchase a diesel MB once this new tax rebate kicks in.

Also can any Bros here give some feedback on servicing / maintenace of diesel engine MB cars....

Welcome!! Nice avater!! What ls yr ride??

This will be interesting topics down the road. Cant wait for more affordable models to Sillypore. Is the diesel price will remains as of now? The whole objective of shinking COE is not about Green issue. To me, if we want to save the earth, cut the crap just STOP driving. Phew so shiok letting off some steam :)

Going back to the diesel model, i m sure many of us will jump into it to save on fuel cost. As for whether the break down rate will be higher as diesel model carbon builds up faster than petrol models we got to leave it to the engineer. I was told Mercedes model with direct injection builds up carbon in the engine system & this will result lost of power etc. Just wonder why the enginer never thought of it!! After the diesel model what will be next? electric model or the sky is the limit?

These are for Diesel Euro 5 compliant cars ONLY...

And what the diff btwn 4 and 5 is 5 is more "GREEN"... making u seems like u love the earth... J/K.. Euro 5 uses Blue-Tec SCR.. which means for new diesel cars u MUST HAVE DEF else u cannot start your engine... one Diesel fuel guage and a DEF fluid guage..

These new special tax are indeed very attractive. Why? Because our Elites love the Singapore Air so much that they forbid u to pollute it.. lol... seriously.. i dont see why we need special tax for diesel cars... IMO it better to go for gasoline/petrol vehicles now as the current technology is already helping u to save fuel. AND u are in SG... how much is the diesel now? How much is the DEF? How much is the petrol? 2-3 tanks of diesel will use up 1 tank of DEF... so u do your calculations... (LESS always going to "the other side" to refill) Personally i hate to keep refilling so often... troublesome..

Diesel has more complex parts.. so maintenance wont be cheap IMO... eg: 2 stage turbo, the special cooling system.. your DEF, SCR, new senors to monitor here n there...
