Blackvue parking mode

I just had Blackvue installed for my ride.

I didn't get Powermagic as I thought it is needed only if I want 24-hour recording.

Now, I realise that I can't activate the Parking Mode. Blackvue shuts down when the engine is off, without going into Parking mode, even though I set it to auto.

Is Powermagic needed for Parking mode too?

I read the owner manual. It says Powermagic is recommended, but never says it must be present for Parking mode to work.

Please advise.

Thanks

Car parked, power off, no power, Blackvue shutdown!

With continous power to the Blackvue when your car is parked, it will record but keep draining your car battery.

Dun think U wanna flat battery?

With Powermagic, there're 2 features that prevent your car battery from going flat.

You set the time duration for recording & at the same time set the car battery voltage which the Blackvue will shut off.

I guess for the car battery voltage setting most of the users will set it @ 11.8V i.e when the car battery voltage drop to 11.8V,

the Powermagic will switch off the power to the Blackvue & stop recording.

When you start your car & move off, you hear

"Parking mode disabled" It mean the Blackvue has been recording in Parking mode till you have started the car & move off.

When U hear "Blackvue for your safe driving, starting normal recording!"

It mean the Blackvue has stop recording in Parking mode when it reach the hours of setting in parking mode or the car battery has reached your minimum set voltage and power has been shut off.

My Rp 2 worth! :P

Looks like I have to go back and have powermagic installed.

The useless manual should have just stated that powermagic is needed before parking mode can be activated.

Not true also, except the manual did not recommend powermagic to prevent flat battery!

U can connect the Blackvue direct to the battery supply and it will still record in parking mode but u run the risk of a flat battery

Some people did not buy the Powermagic mainly of 2 reasons

1. They do not need Parking mode recording

2. They afraid that the Powermagic screwed up and run the risk of a flat battery. There are quite a few cases reported. Could be because of setting the battery cut off voltage too low. Lucky for me so far :P

So am I right to say that with powermagic installed' date=' the device will record continuously either till the designated time or till the battery falls below a certain level?[/quote']

yes sir that's a fair summary.

powermagic is produced by another company and not affliated to blackvue ... most respectable ICE shops would be able to advice you to other brands if you're not happy with powermagic.
