i think your pics are good enough. i think its a $180 well spent

After changing my lights to HID, it just seems like the next natural mod to do. For all those who are considering this mod, it's one that I highly recommend especially if you have HID. It never fails to put a smile on my face at night when I see the reflection of it on the bumper of the car in front!

This mods is for those without ILS feature. Once the headlight is switch on the DRL will maintain ON too. I read somewhere that no module is needed to activate this features only using software. Can anyone confirm on this one?

When I was doing mine, they only added a long thin wire from the DRL to under the steering console. No additional module or software added, just hard wiring. Job took less than an hour to complete.

Fierce!! So how much they charging now? Previously only $180!!

Still the same $180 when I did mine. No idea if there's any increase now.

Yes, no change. Jus checked and it is the same price.

I went to our site sponsor Sonic Racing to install my HID. You can look for Steve on the forum to get a quote.

Any pictures fm those who have did the mod?

Here you go. But believe me when I say the real thing looks many times better compared to the photos.

From your pic, the DRL doesn't seem to be dimmer at nite.

Wondering where the wire to the DRL is tapped from.

Assuming it auto dim, just curious what is telling the DRL to power low.

When the DRL dims, it's pretty obvious. I would say it's at max half as bright when dimmed.

No idea about the wiring, didn't ask the technician.

I always thought the DRL dim on headlight on is activated by software. Most cars nowadays with drl have this function. For example, this function is activated using vagcom for VW and Audi.

No idea about the Merc system, guess they're not able to do it with just a software tweak. As long as it works the way you want it too, I guess the process doesn't really matter. I'm actually heading down to the workshop later next week. Would ask them about it.

Have been searching the web. A aftermarket relay module can also be used to achieve this effect.

Well, the Autospritze method has been tried, tested, and proven on numerous cars with factory fitted DRL. Many users on the forum can vouch for that. I can't comment on your aftermarket module or aftermarket software solutions. If you've any qualified workshop or technicians that provide the services you claim, feel free to recommend them.

Please do not be mistaken, I did not say the method used by your preferred workshop is not good, I am just saying that there may be other alternatives available in the market yet to be explored. I have no affiliations or dealings with any workshop which can provide this service, even if I have, there is no reason for me to market their products for them.

The dealer or some other workshop can decode the factory DRL code into the DRL with ILS code.

The DRL will dim when lights goes on.

This only works on the facelifted model .

It has to do with code 240 into 236

Didn't know we can post workshops of non-sponsors!

If the sponsor workshops do not provide such services why not for the benefits of our members.

We do "protect our site sponsors" from non sponsor posting here.

BTW I've no business dealings with them.
