PI Car adoption by C & C

Read abt this 10k in the forum as it was discussed be4.

10k if car has problems sounds reasonable.

But I just want to service my car regularly at agent.

Not for claiming issues.

So the agent service bay is strictly out of bounds for PI cars coming in for servicing unless pay 10k?

I guess they don't entertain at all?

10K plus C and C will require you provide quite a lot of documentation which i dont think you will have unless your PI can provide you..... forgot what but i kinda remember the list is kinda long.

Drop c and c and email they will reply you what to provide.

Dear all,

I did this exercise 3 years ago and found a couple of short comings in the process and a few lessons learnt:

1. The workshops are restricted, PI cars are only allowed in one of their service centers, think way out West.

2. You typically get a much heavier bill for servicing your car there.

3. After you drop your car off you will inevitably get a call which informs you that something needs to be changed and that it's a good time to call the bank for that second mortgage.

4. The warranty is not like a 'normal' Cnc car, if anything goes wrong you will still be expected to pay for labour and parts which are under warranty will need to be paid for first and that you will be reimbursed after Cnc claim from Germany (I.e you might be able to see your mone in a year).

Some of my personal thoughts:

1. you have bought a Mercedes Benz, and the likelihood of something going wrong in 3 years is slim.

2. There are quite a number of very competent workshops around our island nation which will be able to solve your problems.

3. In the the event that they are not, there are always very useful forums such as this one to point you in the right direction.

So my two cents in addition to my personal thoughts above; save your money, spend it on yourself/ family and shelters for homeless animals or a brand spanking new exhaust system that is legal but will probably make your eardrums bleed.

That's comforting to know as I contemplated getting a Beemer which I heard stories regarding its reliability.

Just take a look at so many old old COE MB around.. you do not get to see many Beemer at that age. BTW.. reliability is also about luck.

Beemer always has the drivers car image, while MB is always the more classy one.. with comfort as the top priority.. and to be frank.. SG road.. what speed you want to drive at?

I was also looking at the recent 520i & 528i.. drivability is good, but wife at the back gave her disapproval say leg room not enough. But the drive in front was good!!

Yup legroom always an issue in 5 series. Get an e if u have kids.

Btw when you say merc more comfort, what kinda comfort are you guys always referring to?

The seats are definitely not as padded and cushy as BMW.

Hi E-Cab,

I think you can try looking at some of the site sponsors here, I'm sure they're reliable enough or if they aren't, you should be able to look for a forum thread that exposes any bad experiences fellow forumers have had with them.. My friends have had good experience, buying as well as servicing, with site sponsors, so imho, I think it's safe to go that route..

Bt fr sporty n steerg feel, bimmer no doubt! :becky:

no argument there.. if I were to go for a bimmer.. its more for the drive than anything else.

Back to topic... TS there are quite a few good Merc workshop out there.. why do you want to go back to CnC and IMHO kana chop like carrot? If due to warranty can understand, but since yours is already PI.. no need to subject yourself to the service in CnC.

Noted. Thanks. Have more or less chosen the workshop to go to. Will drop by and post a review.

No worries, having owned a 3 series before, i do agree they provide better handling and drive. Not going to c&c, the only reason y i thought of that was to enhance the resale value possibly in future. Tks
