Accident with Taxi

Hi guys, need some advise on an accident.

Wifey took car out today and got hit by a taxi from the back while she was changing from 2nd to 1st lane. As a result my rear right bumper collided with taxi's front left bumper.

She told me she checked before changing lane and did not see any taxi at the back. Anyway the taxi uncle insisted its her fault asked her how to settle. She said to claimed insurance and the taxi uncle immediately asked for private settlement and asked my wife to pay him $150 for the damage as he has passenger in the taxi can witness my wife cut into his lane abruptly.

I told her not to pay him and just exchange details.

So what should I do now? Claim insurance or private settlement?

This is a 50/50 case. Btw all passenger inside the car at the point of accident cannot be a witness. But u can argue that the taxi driver hit u while changing lane. Coz yr damage is far rear. Good luck, most importantly no serious injury.

even if settle privately must state dwn black n white n signed by taxi driver... else later he go claim against u:tsk:

take photos too of damaged.... as taxis are known to blow up the repairs works....

Thanks for all the inputs. I am worried that the taxi driver might turn ard and go claim insurance even after that we do pte settlement. Anyway wife got a big shock from the accident.

Will my NCD be affected if make claims? As I am not the driver at point of accident. NCD is to person, not car right?

Yr wife's changg lane fm 2nd to 1st lane (which's fast/ overtakg n emergency lane). As long as yr statement says yr car lane changed, finished! :Cry: Coz 1) Taxi has e right of way 2) failed to regulate speed n check blindspot

Taxi driver unker re v experience n cunning! They've many tricks to assist fm! :whistle:

Just go for private settlement. No point fight case with taxi uncles. Most of them r experienced ones. Know how to blow the matter big n bigger

Get private settlement in black n white. And u have 24 hours to do from the point of accident.

I have encounter even worse taxi uncles than yours. Even is their fault, he can go n still insist not his fault and find witness n go court fight case. Then finally lost the case. Waste ppl time n money.

Just take this accident as a lesson.

During times of bad economy, govenment will ask for ppl donation to help these cunning, useless taxi uncles who tout, drive reckless and trying their means to cheat other ppl at point of accident.

After almost 10 years of driving in spore, I still dont understand why insurance companies still stupid stupid pay out to taxi uncles even when they blow up the claims

Ya bro hk is more experienced. He even ask about the cunning uncle health because he can argue the vehicle damage in black n white but the civil damage which is his health is not settled in black n white.

Learnt my lesson, next time ask my wife to take cab instead of letting her take the car. Heart pain as my rear right bumper also kena scratch and dent.

U have 24 hours from the time of accident to settle it.

After 24 hours time period, the cunning uncle will have more bargaining power

:nono::nono::nono: better settle between the 2 of you if you chose Pte settlement . Pay for your own repair . Cos if taxi uncle play you out . You can be charge for attempting to cheat the insurance company . Don't play play !

Was advised by a colleague that even if pte settlement still need to make a report. To state in the report that its pte settlement and the report is more of a black and white in case the taxi driver turn table in future. That correct?

If u have your own workshop, u can tell that cunning uncle drive there n yor workshop fix his problem and bill to your side This way u don't need to overpay him in cash.

All these uncles have special workshop where they drive their taxi there for magic fixing one.

I believe most of us encounter some taxi uncles purposely want to creat an accident. Because for them, if u r a carrot head, they earn more than they drive around one month taxi fare.
