Managed to Lock my Car Key in the Car

Stupid waste of time

Model: W211 FL + Keyless GO

Forgot that I left my car key in my bag.

Threw the bag in the boot.

Pressed the close boot button.

*Boot Slammed Shut*

Me: Ehhhhh... where is my car key ah?

*a moment late*

Me: Holy cow! My car key is in the boot!

--------------------------------------------

1. Tried pulling on all the doors hoping to trigger the door release using the key in the boot.

FAILED

2. Tried asking C&C Mech to come down to unlock. They say need to tow to HQ to unlock.

FAILED

3. Alternatively, they recommend a lock smith to pick the lock. Locksmith say 'only' $100 to unlock the door, $200 to unlock the boot.

FAILED

4. Cab to old house to retrieve the spare key. Unlocked to recover the original key.

HENG

--------------------------------------------

Super weird. Usually the auto-boot will pop up again to remind me that the key is still in the car/boot.

Just not my day sia. Don't rely 100% on the car to remind you the car key still in the car!

I did exactly the same thing last week but luckily my boot refused to shut...I was sharing my experience with some bros during the AMG nite...I m driving the W212 + Keyless Go

I guess your case is a malfunction as this should be the standard feature for Keyless Go

the key has to be OUTSIDE the car...

I always thought as long as the key out of range the front panel will alert u. If within the range lock & unlock is possible!! No? Ive try starts the engine then left the key outside & drive off. Once out of range the front panel will light up for less than 30 sec then normalise. When this happens, if the driver didnt saw the warning message from the front panel. It will be too late & likely u will drove off without yr key.

BB what about yr spare key?

Yeah. Like I said, normally all those safeguard would have happened. Like popping up again, red warning light, etc. Seen it happen before. Just not today. Haha.

Perhaps it is the bag blocking the signal, making the signal of the key a bit weaker. Maybe it weak enough for the sensors to think it is OUTSIDE the car. (i.e., if the key was INSIDE the car, the signal would be strong so the boot would not close!)

Spare key at Mother's house lor. Have to go there get it.

Interesting note. I tried unlocking the door with the blade key. None of the electronics in the car worked! Boot open/close, lock/unlock, etc didn't work. Not bad leh! I thought people can smash the car window and gracefully unlock the boot.

i kana this once, when la kopi with some of the SM here(u know who u r !!!)

they mentioned there is this safety feature, so in case i got out my blade key, throw the remote into the car boot and lock it.

and as like you bro, it din auto open, it locked

worst thing, we almost din make it opening with the blade key in the boot !!!

all electronic malfunction sucks big time....

even been in a new 7 series which on ECP suddenly drops to low gear....Warning sign auto switch on.....message says...drive to nearest service center.

The WORST part...the doors gets lock and you cannot unlock...hahaha
