Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

Guest cmsoh

Recommended Posts

Instrument cluster flashed red yesterday, advising me to check my tyre pressure. Good thing too, coz I haven't pumped any air since collecting my car some 4 months ago.

Went to the petrol station today, referenced the guide for pressure and was very surprised that my tyre pressure was so low. Visually couldn't see anything, nor could I feel any difference the ride comfort.

Recommended : F-240, R-330

Pump reading F-190, R-220

Looks like the pressure gets really very low before the warning kicks in?

Had similar issue happening to me a month ago.

Pumped tires, reset alarm and few days later alert reappeared. Bring to tire shop and they found a nail in rear tire. Repaired and alert gone since.

Btw good thing our rides have this TPM! Certainly saved me more problems than finally ending up with a complete flat somewhere inconvenient

And yes, same as yourself, no diff in ride comfort and visually couldn't tell the first time. But second time was initially irritated, thinking something wrong with sensors or TPM system.

Let the alarm persist more than a day. Then suspect maybe rear tire a little flat. Visually can see now but only because TPM made me look. Otherwise prob will have missed it. Still couldn't see nail. Only after removed fr car, then can see nail. So *thumbs up* for our Benzies' TPM !

from what i observe.

everytime you reset the TPM it saves the current pressures.

when you tire pressure drops too far from the last time u reset. it will prompt.

works quite well.

helped discovered a few 2 inch nails a few times.

cheers

IMHO Dun think your rides come with TPMS but rather Tyre Pressure Loss Warning System.

For TPMS your wheels must come with TMPS sensors on your wheel whereas for warning system U dun have wheel sensors.

i was wondering how does it actually work with the wheels not being electronically connected to the car. hmm..

Good observation .... Now you got me wondering, too :)

I might be wrong!

Think it work from the brakes abs sensors.

When a wheel has lost air, the brake abs sensor senses a diff. in wheel braking pressure.
