C&C GPS Addon For Audio 20

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum. I just received the keys to my C180K FL 2 months back. I went down to C&C service center today for tyre rotation and found out that they actually provide add-on GPS and reverse camera installation for my Audio 20 system. The warranty for the installation will be tied with the car. They are charging $2600 for just the GPS system and an additional $700 for the reverse camera. The installation charges can be deducted from the service credit.

I'm very keen on getting it done to my car. The SA showed me an E-Class which has the GPS system installed. I noticed that the system was actually controlled by an additional remote control and not from the click wheel. I just want to know if anyone has done the above mentioned installation, and how good is this navigation system, such as user-friendliness, how fast it can locate your current location, ability to locate addresses, etc, as compared to an external GPS?

Thanks!

Can Comand be done by C&C? I understand that there isn't any Singapore and Malaysia maps available for the NTG4.5 system now. I'm actually considering the upgrade due to the service credits, and that it won't void any of my warranties. My service credits will be able to cover the entire installation.

Look for camber or Ricky, do a search here, installation locally. See&See do not install command. If you hv concern for warranties issue, do not attempt to do any mods.

I did look for them. That's why I know from them that Singapore & Malaysia maps aren't available, which actually defeats my purpose of installing the system. Having the warranty would be a bonus. I'm exploring all possible ways to try and get the system setup the way that best suits me.

I see, perhaps our guru ice ice Unker can advise you. I would get a cheapo Garmin instead to meet my needs.

Bro markcwq, mine came w command. Like bro blackmerc said its worth it. My gps not too bad but not perfect. It still able to guide me to my destinations in ulu area like jurong n tuas. Only unable to see hdb block number on d screen n marina bay area only partially. but other these short comings its my too bad. You can also update the gps map thru site sponsors.

You must have mistaken...if they don't have Sing or Mal maps, they won't be able to sell their aftermarket Comamd. I fitted my Comand from Camber 6 months ago & unless I'm blurr like sotong, the map is Sing. It has served me well...a very satisfied customer (ie if i'm sure that my map is sing & not HK or vietnam...lol!)

I did verify with them, twice. The maps are available for the pre-FL Comand model. If your car was fitted 6 months ago. You'd in most probability be driving that model. For the FL model, maps are unavailable yet for Asia for the latest Comand system. A check at the Mercedes website would verify that only Europe maps are available now. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually spore so small. Latested updated map or not. Not important.

As long as has command online will do. This unit cost 9k to install, if SE give discount it will be 7k. And if u don't wan your command online n trade back to C&C for 5K.

Current C&C promotion price for C-class does not come with command online.

I've already gotten my car. I understand that C&C doesn't upgrade the system for you once you get the car.

Any workaround for postal codes which can't be located on command online?

Hi icez,

What I do is I will key the 1st 2 digit of the postal code. When u click on town or street, the comand will narrow down the area zone to that of the postal code. Makes finding the place u want to go easier to find.

Hope this help you.

My previous W212 E250 had both COMAND & after mkt gps/multi media interface + reverse Camera + Digital TV (CNA, TV5 & TV8)

The after mkt gps with the remote is likely to be Garmin GVN53.

Dun think CnC do it! Either it's "unofficial" or they outsourced to a third party.

Why I had both cos I've have Garmin GVN53 from my previous ride & connected to the Audio 20 with reverse camera. I kept them in the car system & integrated it with the COMAND after the upgrade.

IMHO $2600 for the after mkt gps be it Garmin GVN53 or Touch screen Window base CE Aigis maps & $700 for RC is "way above mkt rate"!

For $3000, I can recommend you Garmin GVN53 GPS + Reverse Camera+ Digital TV + DVD Changer all integrated to your Audio 20 and a little more $$$ throw in a bigger 7" LCD screen to go with your Audio 20. :becky:

Wonder can I just fix up the reverse cam for $700? Does it comes with the guided parking lines?

I think you can. I don't see a reason why not. However, the car which the SA showed me doesn't have the guided parking lines.

Thanks for all your feedback! Really useful for a new Merc owner. Seems like a lot of people are recommending the Comand system.

Hi,

For me personally i prefer portable GPS over incar GPS as it is alot easier for me to update and bring it along when i drive oversea on rented cars. The challenge i face with incar GPS is the graphics are pretty dull and not really accurate whether to stay in the same lane or not. Portable maps are alot more detail and i can update many maps from other countries easily just by connecting to my laptop.

For $2600, you might as well spend it on upgrading your rims or something else. A good Portable GPS cost less than $500 these days.

Just my 2 cents worth.
