Welcome!! Most of the bro here will love the roaring sound!! How old is yr ride? Pre-face lift model? If within warranty period just send it in for medical check up.

mate... usually if the car is a few years old.. the V-belt and related parts may need replacement and this can be the cause of the irregular sound.. you may have also noticed higher fuel consumption etc.. take it to a reputable garage and ask them to give the car a once over and advise you of parts that need to be changed.. nothing to be alarmed... but a broken v-belt will mean a costly repair... sort it out before that happens

I interpret above message as only random days, the engine will roar very loudly when starting in the morning. I have the same situation too.....my car is 2 1/2 yrs old. Didnt do anything to it as i guess at times, the fuel is too "rich" and "too much" being injected during morning starts. I dont step on the accelarator or anything like that before i start car. Just insert key and turn...

How old is ur ride? wats the mileage like?

If u only drive the ride every random days, then ur ride is crying for attention from u to sayang it more often. :becky:

If u leave ur ride untouched for more than 24hrs, its just warming up and the tachno meter shld be ard 1000 rpm during cold start.

symptoms differ accordingly to health conditions..

To me, its just music to the ears.. :music:

It all starts with the o2 sensors.

In modern cars, the o2 sensors start to operate only at a certain temperature.

At cold start, the current to heat the o2 sensors need about a minute to get the o2 sensors to operating temperature.

During this time, the car is operating in Open Loop from Fueling perspective, based on the ECU map.

This is the same map/configuration that the car uses if your o2 is kaput. i.e. the car will still run, but not as efficiently.

For other technical info, feel free to drop by my in-house clinic @ http://www.sgmerc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=90 LOL .. although some say it has more poison than medicine...

so to say, if after a min, ride still roaring away means o2 kaput liao huh, Doc?

is it "healthy" for the ride to roar randomly?

On the other side, is it "healthy" for the ride to "teck teck teck" after shutting down the engine?

TIA..

i noticed lots of mercs have this super loud sound in the morning not only unique to c class. anyway don't need to warmup just start engine and drive off. the engine is warmed up once u see the temp hit 90 deg.

Hi since is still under warranty just send it for medical check up. My previous ride with the same engine does not generated such a loud noise.

Nopey u don't have to warm up yr car in the morning. Those are old school techniques.

Many have mention that C180k engine noiser then the CDI version, I am curious noisy at which stage? When the engine sound louder even when car at stationery or when we ramp the car at a certain rpm, the engine noise can be heard louder when we inside the car? Hope some bro here can answer my curiousity. thanks.

OH sorry i mean comparing C180 Kompressor model with their elder bro example C180 CGI or C200 CGI. As I search through this forum and many have mention that the kompressor engine is noiser then CGI but no one have mention what they mean by noiser? Do they mean that the engine sound louder when we stand beside the engine or when the car is moving etc ? ... :)
