drove my fiancee to dempsey for a nice dinner to kick start the weekend... parked the car at an open-air carpark near block 7... dark place, loose gravel on the ground in parts... was adjusting the car and tried to move forward but right rear wheel got stuck in the gravel... attempted to power off many times but to no avail... came out of the car... went to the back... wheel was dug-in pretty deep... got my missus to try and power off while i try and lift the car from the back... didn't work... heard some metal scrapping sound as well in the midst of all this... got her to stop... i scooted to the left rear of the car for a look... rear skirting and exhaust tip wedged on top of the kerb causing the exhaust tip to bend upwards and warping the adjacent skirting... turned off the engine... called Star Assist... they said they will have someone there within an hour... left the car and had a quick meal at CMPB... yellow tow truck arrived... driver assessed the situation and got to work with all his tools... lifted the car and placed a few planks under the left rear wheel... i managed top edge the car forward and got the right rear wheel out of the ditch... left rear skirting warped... exhaust tip knocked back into place by the tow truck driver but still jutting out at an awkward angle... the inside of the exhaust seemed to have a metal sheet bent as well... it didn't seem like falling off... paid $107 for his help and we left dempsey... got in touch with 1 of our bros here with regards to repair work... was thinking i could send in the car the next day because i want it fixed asap... he arranged for monday morning at 9am instead which was fine with me...

sent the car in at 930am... was told that it would be ready the next morning... left the workshop... got a call around 12-ish from the workshop saying that the car should be ready by 6pm today since we agreed that no spray-painting would be involved... got a 2nd call at 6pm saying that the work done on the bumper was not good and it had to be re-worked... car should be ready the next day... seems like it was just a problem of letting the adhesives settle before the job could be deemed satisfactory...

Tuesday, 4th October 2011

got a call at 9am from the workshop saying that the adhesives could not settle because the skirting was warped... exhaust tip was secured... advised by the workshop that they would get a quotation for a new skirting... i was to collect the car anytime today... they would inform me when the quotation for the new skirting was received and i could then send the car back in for the job... i was also not to be charged for whatever work that was done yesterday... made my way down to the workshop at about 3pm... inspected my vehicle... paint finishing of the skirt was kind of "rubbed off" causing a certain dullness... there were abrasion marks on the affected part... adhesives were showing because the skirting could not be aligned to the bumper with a gap showing... positioning of the skirt was also off by about 1.5cm from the center diffuser... the gap is obvious compared to the 1 on the right of the diffuser... the exhaust tip seems to be jutting out more than usual and although secure, there is a very obvious sheet of inner metal running across the internal mouth of the exhaust... i looked underneath and screws have been added to the underside of the skirt to the bumper... the job looked to me to be rather botched... i took my key from the staff and left...

Now, 11pm

i am thinking should i wait for the workshop to get back to me on the new skirting (question is, how long would they take to come back to me), or should i just give up and get my problem solved elsewhere...

a day and a half without my car has caused me much inconvenience... what's more, the distance to the workshop from my residence is literally from the east to the west... (for those familiar with the MRT, it is the green line, from the right all the way to the left)... i had opted to go all the way there because i have seen their facilities and equipment and thought that this minor job should be a piece of cake for them... seems like i may have been proven wrong...

you all have no idea how peeved i am...
