Accident

I collided with a bicycle. The bicycle from the opposite side of the traffic swing into my lane. Till now I still don't understand why he do this unless he wants to die. It is a bunch of kids riding on the road. The kid is alright with a bad cut on his knee. Everything is in my favor, I have witnesses. Had I not reacted fast enough, he is under my wheels already but my repair bills is $18k++ from C&C. Next year my premium shoot high high right? Any advise from any kind soul.

if possible, i would not suggest going to sea&sea for any repairs. I find that they are a rip-off. my mum's car was quoted 5k previously for some repair, decided to check with another workshop and was quoted 2k. Sea&sea would want to change anything and everything. Few years later, as my mum's car was coming to 7 years, we sent for checkup, the estimated bill came up to around 10k to change parts etc.. we decided not to go ahead and sold the car.

So check around with other workshops also.

A long long list. I have warranty from C&C, can only go back there right? My insurer is chartis. WTF, only 5-6 months old car. Sienz. Till now I kept thinking, what was in the mind of the boy. He swing into my lane while looking behind at his friend. Is this call suicide?

18k repair seems very excessive for damage caused with an accident with a bicycle. Merc is so "soft" nowadays ? Just wondering what are parts that were damaged and replacement. Maybe a better option is not to go sea & sea. Your premium on your next renewal will be crazy if you make your insurance claim. If the engine and major components are not damaged, I would take a risk with warranty.

Bro...maybe this is a blessing in disguise leh. Should note down time and date of accident and go buy 4D.

Since you have evidence that it's the boy who is at fault, can't you contact his parents and asked them to foot the bill?

One of my friends, on the very first day after collecting his car, he caught 2 kids scratching his door red handed. Contacted their parents and they paid for the damages.

Hi Bro,

I think these r two different case...

Scratching other car is an offense but accident is different..

Am I right?

To me, it's still a case of a kid causing damage to a car due to his carelessness, isn't it? Then again, I'm not a lawyer.

Warranty need to go back to them right? If not I will not go to them already. Will my warrranty be void?

Don't worry guys, I've moved on. Must make more money to let my insurer leech next year and I hope the boy has the intergrity not to leech on my insurer too. Luckily i have quite a few witnesses.

Actually he look quite pitiful when he was sitting down and holding his palms together to say sorry to me. What really piss me off is when he say UNCLE, sorry. UNCLE,very sorry. It's my fault, I'm sorry.

I'm barely 30 years old and certainly don't think I have the uncle look lor.

they know you claim insurance that's why they charge so high. Daylight robbery.

this whole system of insurance business stinks. The only people who benefit are the workshops and the insurance companies.

Hi Bro,

When my car collided with a taxi (my mums fault, she was driving), front end damage (bumper, bonnet, headlights) comes to 20k. Following year ALL except one company declined to quote. In the end only China Insurance offered, at double the premium, never buy NCD protector somemore.

So premium increase still never mind (will come back down), the insurer may choose not to insure you anymore. That's when the real headache begins, because all the insurers will have your history.

just my 2 cents.

even though your car is still under warranty with sea&sea, you do not have to bring it back to them if ONLY you do not want to claim from your insurance. their warranty is only on manufacturer's defaults.

bring to a good workshop & most probably they can do the job as well & at a lower price. please also note that your NCB & annual insurance premium will be affected depending on how much you claim. the higher you claim, the higher your premium will be.

so having said that, if you still want peace of mind, sea&sea is the only way to go. its your choice.
