Re-mapping n paddle shifts

Hi all,

I've heard that an e200 can be re-map to produce much higher torque and BHP? Is this true? If it can be done, will some of the parts require changing?

In this case, an E250 is so-called up tuned with 20 more horses, does it mean that some of it's parts are different from the E200 to withstand the increase in BHP and Torque? Does re-mapping void warranty?

Anyone heard of a paddle shift extension? Cos my current paddle shift looks a little tiny. Just wondering are there any paddle shift extension like an attachment to make it look bigger...purely cosmetics.

Thanks everyone

Hi Skunky,

The E200 is a supercharged engine and is very tunable to achieve higher HP & Torque. Non of the parts require any changing. Essentially, a good tune will not force your engine to deliver something it was not meant to do. It is essentially 'giving permission' for your engine to operate at an optimum level. A good remap will not trigger any fault codes, which the dealer may pick up during an OBD read, thus accusing you of remapping your car. In any case, a tuner should offer you the option of flashing back to the original map should you choose to do so later.

Car manufacturers save costs by putting the same engine across various models and brands. The VW group is a prime example. The same engine in an Audi is also used in the Skoda, but down-tuned for obvious reasons. Its called 'market segmenting'. That is the same reason why Mercs released the E250. Its the same engine as the E200, up-tuned and maybe throw in a side-skirt and charge you $20,000 more. ;-)

Sorry cant help you on the pedal shifter!

Hi bro, thks for the detailed explanation. Mine is a cgi thus turbocharged instead, I wld presumed it's the same from ur explanation.

Very tempted to do it though.

Anyway, VW & Audi both have shifter extensions. Will be in Munich this weekend will do a check with them and update everyone in case anyone is as Siao as me.

Cheers!!

Hi guys! Thanks for all the welcomes! We actually did try to join as SA but got a reply stating that the forum is not taking in anymore SAs. We are a team of pro tuners and just came back from UK. Only just recently decided to start our business here.

Anyway, yes, the turbocharger is very tunable too.

We would definitely love to drop by for the meet ups for sure and of course, the big birthday bash!

Yup, we will be most glad to answer any questions you guys may have.

I love talking about cars! Will try my absolute best to be there! My old man is a big Merc fan as well...I've ridden in Mercs since 1976!!! Haha...

Also, I really like how the CLS looks with fierce quad exhausts, black rims, body kits...so mafia looking...nothing beats making an expensive clean classy car look like a mafia bosses car!!

sure.. just did that last month :)

any modification can potentially void warranty.

And yes, there are aftermarket Paddle Shift extensions.. or you can buy a C63 steering wheel (like mine kekeke) with bigger paddle shifts :)

er.. actually.. the Audi 1.8T and the VW/Skoda 1.8T are different engine setup.

Even when tuning the S3 and GTI over the years, I am able to extract different gains from them.

Make a guess, which is a monster ride :bounce:

LOL no problem.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Being 1 of few who performs full custom tuning of Factory ECUs as well as Piggybacks in Singapore for a number of years, hopefully I can answer most of your queries on performance tuning :) kekekeke

Hi Dr! Nice to chat with you here! Finally got to chat with a pioneer!

Sorry for the confusion. Didn't mention anything about the 1.8T though. My bad for misleading anyone. Oh yes we spent some time in a tuning R&D lab in UK and now we're finally setting up shop in SG. Monster Tune is just a name we registered in Singapore. The UK lab creates and sells tuning map to some tuners in Asia, but being geeks, we prefer to create custom maps for the local drivers. Ok enough about us, before the moderators issue me with a yellow card for not having a SA license. ^_^
