While u are still accelerating, what happens when you press the P button or when you accidentally click onto R or N?

What happens?

Does the car ignore it, since you are still accelerating?

you cant engage P or N while accelerating , as u will need to step on the brakes to do so ( i think so...)

Nevntried on P or R. But u can engage into N while driving... Happen to me before...

YAP , on the mercs? I thought the gear change are not in a straight line direction?

There's a built in safety feature for the transmission. It won't engage from N to P at high speed while moving forward. I have been taught executing reverse flicks on a BMW in my BMW Intensive Driver Training some time ago. A reverse flick is where one drive reverse at high speed & then turn 180deg forward without brake & shifting from R to D as the car flicks (like a James Bond movie). I realize that if one shift prematurely from R to D while the car is still moving at fast speed in reverse , the next selected gear does not engage. Only when the car deem it safe to do so at a lower speed, then it engages. Should be the same in Merc.

Sharg w all bros. I'd this once experience when I engaged to N while my car re rollg dwn e slope. ECP or any flyover. Thinkg of savg more fuel while u re on dwn slope. Speed pick up eventually bt cruised back at 70++ when back on level road then I engaged back to D. Next I realized the ECU didn't pick up the transmission quick enough n I went rev w aelec... split secs later it does. So I believe it e safe feature at certain speed range. I tried many times again on my usual bt nothing occur liao. :tsk:

It will goes into "N" mode!
