Hi

I am looking to mount a bicycle rack at the boot of my C200. Does any one know which brand/ model of rack i should get that fits the C200? Would prefer one that would not damage the boot of course ... heard some people say there may be scratches.

for boot based, no specific brand/model. i have used bones previously. avail at all good bike shops.

would recommend roof racks atop, thule is the brand.

i went to pro-rv previously.

cheers.

Am using the Saris Bones - 3. The only thing extra I do is to put the 2 lower anchor "legs" on the boot (near the number plates), as opposed to the bumper itself. Tried bumper, but cause it is quite soft, there seems to be permanent indentation if you carry 2-3 bikes.

I have seen ppl using it for other cars, no need additional road tax right? If need, then I think it's only meant for W plates or towing license.... Think class 3 cannot drive de.... Correct me if I'm wrong....

MB has a tow hook and bicycle rack arrangement under their original accessories but under smlc LTA law our cars are not allow to put up a tow hook even if it's original.

The Mercedes-Benz rear-mounted bicycle rack for the trailer coupling features a patent-registered quick-release fastening mechanism which makes it simple to use: push rack forward into place, throw the lever and there you have it. No damage to bumper. Attached cycles can be removed by one person thanks to the fold-down mechanism (max. 45 degrees), which also ensures sufficient room for loading.

The extremely lightweight aluminium rack (approx. 15 kg) is designed to hold two cycles, or a max. of three with the extension kit. Suitable for all circular frame tubes up to diameter of 80 mm or oval frame tubes up to 80 x 45 mm. Also for oversize frames. Rack theft-protected as standard. The cycles are locked onto the rack by locking spacers with single key system, preventing theft.

The trapezoidal rails provide a secure base for narrow or wide tyres. Support bar folds down to save space when stowing.

Expanding straps in the rails provide an extremely secure hold for the cycles, including the sides. The rack can be fitted without tools and is suitable for any trailer coupling from a drawbar ratio of 6.7 kN. No TÜV registration required since provided with European operating permit.

Tow hooks

Most vehicles are originally equipped with towing points for recovery purposes. Tow hooks (as shown in the picture) are not allowed as they may aggravate injuries to motorcyclists should they come into contact with the sharp and hard surface of the tow hooks in the event of a collision.
