w204 FC Help

Hi guys,

New Merc owner currently driving a 2009 w204, drinking Esso 8000, full tank top up each time.

I noticed that the reserve fuel light comes on when just under the 1/4 mark of the fuel guage, is this usual? I would think that it would be much closer to E before lighting up like other cars.

Also, i try to be light footed but am usually doing city driving apart from Expressways on the way home. I get about average 11-12l/100km and only manage about 450-480km millage before the "get your a$$ to a petrol kiosk" sign comes on.. is this normal?

I'm reading that some bros here actually hit up to 600l per tank!!??

Is there something wrong? Something i'm doing wrong? HELP!!

Nothing wrong in my view to obtain 450 to 480km per top up. Those manage better FC is the driving technique etc. Like going down slope without stepping the gas & on a straight put to netural & let the car behind push forward etc :)

there is one bru (retired) here driving a C class can achieve 800++km, no one can break this record till now not even any Hybrid car.

hi bro, my 2 cents. may or may not be correct. for bigger cars like contis and jap cars>1.6L your pattern of city driving getting 11-12L seems normal.

yo bro aflop,

- yours is W204, C180K or C200K?

same engine but diff setup for the same car weight.

- air filter stock?

Aftermkt filter helps engine "breathes" better.

- tyre pressure?

i recently followed advise from bro jtang.

increased rear tyre pressure by 20 kpa n had a saving of ard 0.5km/l.

- guess ur ride is 2nd hand.

when was the last engine oil change?

wat's the mileage like?

tyres still got grip? harden liao anot?

- maybe u wan reset ur ECU n try again.

- usually for me, reserve light comes on at half of the last quarter mark. should be pumping ard 55-58l.

- some of my wash car kakis say polishing helps too as in wind-resistant.

car body dirty tends to "increase" drag.

- city driving drinks petrol. Start/Stop for Merc is :nono:

Try to roll whenever u can, not so much on light footed anot. if u wan try, drive fast n furious on Xways, ur consumption dun suffer so much. consumption suffers during start/stop, short trips n MSCP. driving in the rain makes it worse too.

Go easy on ur brakes too. Inertia!! Unker Batam teach one. Drive like u have no tomorrow... i mean, no brakes..

- i join the AYE morning jam every working day with Klass95FM n at best, i can get is 9-9.5km/l.

usually on Shell98 or Vpower when got offer.

My leng giam 心得,

Hope these helps. :tea:

Bro aflop, why not on a free day, take your ride and cruise through all the expressways in Singapore such that you waste half your full tank without city driving and then determine what's the consumption like on the odometer?

IMHO

All highway driving 2009 W204 diving around 80 to 90km/hr constantly should easily get about 7 to 7.5L/100km without really trying too hard.

Interesting to note on the tyre pressure, always thought all 4 tyre balanced is best.

Tyres still ok leh, havent changed engine oil, last owner changed before handing it over to me, 3 months ago.

Thanks for helping! Are you going to the meet up tomorrow? I would go down if my car comes back out from workshop... today damn suay drive behind a c200 grey colour SKB8432(?) then the driver ran over something and it launched to my car and scratched my fender... tomorrow morning going to send for spray hopefully can make it out in time for the meet up..

- Maybe tyres hardened or wear out liao. can result in lesser grip but some says more grippy, more eat petrol. Others say no grip, how to move. Like slippers liddat.

Depends who u sapork, PAP or Nicole Seah Party or Hammer gang..

aflop wrote:

- more pressure in front for FWD cos front wheel pull. then reverse scenario, backside more pressure for RWD as back wheel push.

i tried 20 kpa more for rear n felt easier pickup n a little bit petrol saving so i care n share. Usually drives the same route, same time, almost everyday..

- ok depends on how u see, bro. 2 yr old car.

My tires, stock RE050A thread still deep deep but tyre surface material a lot gone liao. sidewall black black, tires thread area white white. time to change..

best to chk DOM on your tyre wall.

Your tyres...

dunno run how many liao.

got track anot.

got regularly pump air anot.

got lotated anot.

owner ur friend ah? Most likely i wun change engine oil if i gonna sell my ride off soon, to be honest.

Any other bros here can provide insights to car vibrating?

maybe u wan try driving under S mode? Wat petrol u pump?

I prefer S mode, but FC like crap so switched to C. I got my ride about 4 months ago, already becoming a legend in Sin Ming area liao.. Alot of problems after respraying the entire car.

No previous ride but always driving my parent's old Altis and previously Jazz. But I figured the weight wouldnt cause performance to be so bad.. maybe should reset ECU...
