It juz went dead. Cannot open door, cannot start car. Juz dead. Called Star Assist n they switched battery wif the spare and still cannot work. Went to C&C and techies tested it, confirm kaput and will replace wif a new one FOC.

Funny thing is they require me to leave my car and the spare key there for a day for them to do "programming". After that, it takes another 3 weeks for new key to arrive.

Walau eh....so drama juz for a key fob replacement. Wonder simi super programming they need to do until hv to leave the car there for a whole day??

so its not the batt fault its the whole circuit board fried

on a serious note, dun pray pray and anyhow throw the key fob on the table. C&C mentioned that the replacement cost is approx $700+!

they were abit evasive as to if it's covered under the 3-yr warranty but said that since my car less than a year old, they will replace FOC. dunno if anyone has had theirs replaced FOC >1yr.

If i'm not wrong, they need to order from the factory as these can only be done (programmed) from factory. Same thing with my VAG key fob, replacement almost a month.

OIC.....they said something abt muz get from factory, etc. But thot wif MB being the 'best seller' here, key fobs would be an integral part of the spare parts inventory and that programming could be done by them since they are the onli MB authorised dealer & w/s. Now i juz hope my spare key doesn't kaput within the month.....

They will also need to do the coding of the key and this probably will be based on your car VIN aka Chassis number which they need to retrieve the information from MB server in Germany!

Currently other than CnC, I only know of 1 guy in Sg who can do this key coding and getting the info by login to the MB server.

For PI merc, I wonder how do they solve the problem since the PI din buy direct from MB factory? Goto this guy or take the long route via their PI source?
