Stay on stock or upgrade to 18" RIM?

Hi I am new to this forum. Just wanna get some advise from fellow sgmerc bro/sis..

Will be getting my C180K in 2 days time. Thinking of upgrading to 18" RIM size but just weighing the pro and cons. Other than the chio factor with larger rim more grip on road, would a bigger rim give problem like hitting fender when u turn? I figure the correct 18" RIM would be PCD 112 with 235/35 R18 tyres?

Thanks a lot!

check this site for a reference of our rims:

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wheels/c_class_saloon_w204_alloys

with the correct offset, fender hitting should not be an issue.

A warm :welcome: to the forum & hope U enjoy your stay with us.

Looking forward to cya @ our gtg or other events.

Pls refer to the event folder!

Bro chershen has shown U the link where U can find what sizes of rims match your ride with the right offset & tyre sizes be it 1 size all for all 4 or staggered.

So hitting fenders should not be an issue!

If U have found rims originals, tuners or replicas and unsure of the sizes please ask & we should be able to advise U.:hand:

welcome which tyres shop told u not to trade in? Is it at ubi industrial park area? They are pulling a fast one on u. Tell them if no trade in no deal. Check out with our site sponsor, probably they can help out. Else let us know the outcome we will advise u accordingly.

Changing of tyres or rim sizes is mainly for good road holding (safety) & improves the looks of yr ride. Hitting the side or rubbing fender issue is most unlikely if get the right OFFSET. U shldnt worry too much on the specs as nowadays most tyres shop are able to advise u accordingly.

Me too, prefer repilca bcoz I couldn't afford the real stuffs which cost $1000 per rim without tyres. As for replica per rim damage abt $200-250 & as for typre my top favourite is Assy F1, 18" per tyres ranges from $280-380. But last year this model got recalled due to crack issue. Lately didn't hear any complains or whatsoever. inshort U got to go out & check out the spec & costs & then make comparison before buying. If in doubts, just ASK!!

Hi bro. Welcome to sgmerc.

Im on 17 rep rims, used back the original bridgestone RE050A that came with the original AVG rims. One diff I felt is of the free roll meaning releasing the accelerator and let the car roll on inertia. The speedometer needle drops very slowly when on original rims, meaning I achieved better consumption as in km per litre. Maybe my rep rims r heavier or due to the change in offset. Other than that, nothing much diff. Changing tires oso cheaper on 17. LoLz

When on 18, u get better looks, more road holding cos wider tires.

Some bros did mentioned, the look of the rims give ur ride a diff personality.

Enjoy ur ride on 17 1st. Take ur time to look at our bros 17,18,19 or even 20 rims when u come to our GTG. No shy. Dats what car meet ups r for.

maybe.... By then u will b looking at 19s... LoLz..

spreading the poison.. :painkiller:

The stock rims is 16 or 17?? Agarlogic(estimated) will be around $1000-$1500. Those were the days but now probably $1200 or below.

Care to share the tyres shop that told u can't trade in? I will avoid this place for good.

It indicates they are using staggered rims i.e broader rims in the back.

Beside the wheel offset ET. width of rims does have an effect on the overall diameter of the rims too.

For replicas it will be quite difficult to look for staggered set configurations.

IIRC replicas usually comes in wheel offset of ET35 & ET45.

IMHO

wheel offset of ET35 is not for you in case the rims overshoot your fender.

Generally this is what will suit U!

You should be looking for wheel offset of at least ET45 or up.

The rims wheel best keep it to max 8" width or 7.5"

So in summary look for a 18" rim PCD 112mm, centre bore 66.6mm.

Rims width 7.5" or 8.0", wheel offset of ET45 or higher and tyres size 225/40/18 will be correct.

Hi,

Off topic a little,

1) Would like to check what are the common/favourite brands for W204?

I know of breyton, VMR, BBS, HrE.

Was looking at actually wedsports sa67 or OZ ultraleggra. dunno whether have for our pcd?

2) What would be a rough figure for trading in our stock 17" inches?

3) PCD for our ride? and what would be an ideal offset? 45 and above?

So that i wont get treated like a carrot head when i visit this rim shops in the future.

we have replica amg, MAK, BBS and Breyton as well.

OZ ultraleggra may have but dunno got stock anot.

wedsport dun think have for our pcd.

ours is 5x112 same as audi and vw.

trade in price for stock orig 17 depends on individual tyre shops not rough prices but if u take yr car new.. shld be at least 1k ba.

as for offsets it depends on yr JJ as well.

but me using 225 width and just nice

Initially i wanted to upgrade to 18".

Then sat in friends RS4, Cooper-S and X1 and found their ride super hard and uncomfy. Hopped back to my humble ride and realised how blardy comfy the MB ride is. So I'm staying stock.....for now. :becky:
