Windscreen Wiper Effectiveness

Was driving along PIE Sunday afternoon and experience a heavy downpour. The visibility dropped almost to ZERO ! While the wiper on the driver side was clearing the rain from the windscreen, the passenger side wiper was sweeping the rain back onto the driver side windscreen ! It was like driving underwater.

I found myself driving at < 30km/hr while the Corollas and Kangoo vans were zooming pass me. I almost had to stop by the side of the expressway. So pai seh.

Wonder how many of you have the same experience ? Is there something wrong with the wiper on my car ?

seems like it, maybe the wiper angle and force was not enough to sweep the water off the windscreen....were you using the highest speed setting available?

Just manually bend the wiper handle towards the windscreen with min force & monitor.

You mean to arc the wiper even more or create more force on onto the windscreen ?

err... try rain x ?

works for me.

Was adviced against....like drugs, apply once, must continue.

I'll check with service center once I send my car in for servicing. Seems like most Bros don't have the issues.

Rain X for me too. applied about 2 months ago, and no more juddering or re applications since then. Only thing different was wiping the blades everytime i wash the car.

I was just commenting to my wife a few weeks back how come ppl dis Rain X, when it works with such minimal effort for me. And I've used it on all my previous cars.

As mentioned on the other thread, RainX works fine for me, and all my past cars too.

At the end of the day, it's a safety feature to be able to have clear vision even in heavy downpour. Even if there's juddering, isn't it worth it for safety sake?

I agree with you totally regarding safety. Being an Engineer by training, I was trying to figure out if there was a problem.

The original intent of my post was to determine if there is some design / assembly issue with the wipers. It seems worse that some other car makes especially in heavy downpour.
