Fog Light Between the Avantgarde and Elegance Model

The E-class Avantgarde's fog light comes on automatically when the car's engine is turned on. However for the Elegance model, the fog light does not turn on by itself. Is it possible to make the fog light turns on by itself when the car engine is turned on? :becky:

I read from the Mercs manual is that the fog light is a safety measure during driving. But it will only turn on automatically for the Avantgarde model and not the Elegance model :Cry:

It is not legal to use fog lights unless in bad weather....r u referring o day light?

I am referring to the LED daylight that the Avantgarde Model has :music:

yeah talk about that. My friend just got summon for driving with Fog lights ON!!! he didn't even know it was on and Police just stop him and "educated" him with a fine!

The LED lights on the Avantgarde model that u r referring to is called Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). They are not fog lamps like the Elegance models. DRLs are part of the Intelligent Light (HID headlamps) feature found in the Avantgarde models & this feature literally makes the car lighted up whenever the engine is running...in bright sunny day the DRls is automatically on, in cloudy dayp/rainy day/night time the HID headlamps is on & DRls dimmed. These lights are controlled automatically even with the light switch at 'O' position.

This Intelligent Light feature is absent in the Elegance model... It comes with yellow fog lamps & yellow halogen headlamps. Both have to be manually switched on.

I believe your friend must have switched on the rear fog lamps unknowingly. The rear fog lamps are really glaring & irritating. Some idiots actually think their cars look cool with it on. There are so may drivers using front fogs on the road, it's a norm nowadays.

I use the rear fogs to irritate tailgaters. :becky:

Thought rear fog light only have one side light up in Mercs? Bright enough to irritate tailgaters meh?

is this referring to W212? my W211 AVG fog light doesn't come on automatically when the engine is on..

IIRC Your W211 E200K avantgarde - turn your light switch all the way to your right - pull it out 1 step (turn on your front fog lamps) - pull up 2 steps (turn your your rear fog lamp)

If U do not activate your fog lamps but when your driving lamps are turn on esp at nite - Your car should comes with the "Intelligent Light System" which has the cornering light function.

At speed below 40km/hr when you make a turn, the respective side fog light will be turned on to shine the direction of turn or when you are reversing the opposite direction of the turn the respective side fog lamp with turn on.

yes yes i notice my fog lamps come on when i turn right or left only that side which i turn... very cool! Even my wife is impressed! :bounce:

I haven't tried turning on the fog lamps while driving yet... still waiting for Fog in Singapore... haha..:shocked:
