Hi

I was thinking of applying Rainaway Window Coating on my C180. But my friend told me that most Merc windscreens are specially treated at factory, thus no need for Rainaway. Is it true?

I never treat my windscreen cos I'm worried abt wipers juddering but I do see the raindrops "flying" off the windscreen when I'm travelling ard 80km/h.

I usually dun on my wipers all the time. Jus some occasionally swipe of the wipers.

See how's ur windscreen behaves in the rain 1st. No like it then go for your treatment. No matter what, they have to clean ur screen real clean b4 they can apply, rite?

Yes the special coating coz alot juddering for the wipers. Avoid apply anything on the Windscreen but some bet to differ. I use only newspaper to clean the Windscreen.

I've applied RainX on all four of my past rides, including current one, never experienced any juddering before. Maybe it the way it's applied?

Basically following the instructions :

1) apply a thin layer until there is a haze on the glass

2) put a few drops of water, and clean off using paper towels, until completely clear

I use those NTUC kitchen rolls for step 2, usually a new sheet for each pane of glass

So far it works well for me, and I love the clear visibility offered.

But your mileage may vary, and if you do end up with juddering, please dont come after me ok? :ohwell:

I use the same paper towel method on my side and rear windows but using Glaco.Very good results. But for the front windscreen, I squirt a little of the MB windscreen washer fluid every morning to clear the thin film of dust when i set off and my wipers never judders.
