this suddenly pop up on my dash board. i check the manual ... the logo (engine temperature warning logo) was somewhat different so i was unsure of what to do ... beside the engine bay was kinda hot and i 'observed' that the coolant bottle has sufficient coolant in it.

then i drove back home as per normal, the engine temperature was rather normal at slightly above 80 degree C.

all suggestion help comment are welcome. appreciation your time taken and effort...

thanks

regards,

didnt really track ... most of the time pass it to mechanic to run the whole show when due for servicing.

but last servicing was done @ 73 xxx + ... just about 3 weeks ago or so ...

check coolant bottle just now ... it seems sufficient ... so was quite puzzled by the message. beside i was cruising on AYE when this happen... and i went some 18km back to home with the temperature gauge displaying at optimal engine temperature. that is hovering slightly above 80

Temperatures increases can be due to radiator leaking too.

The last time I had radiator leak from my bimmer. Smoke coming out from engine bay, engine stop & u will lost control of the car. I m lucky coz this happen when I m in the carpark about to park my car. Imagine u were on the highway!! So best is to get it check before ahem ahem ahem.

Good luck

Hi bossbthk IMHO it could be :

1) coolant leaking somewhere (a hose or hose joint problem, especially the one just above the transmission, use torch and look for dried green traces on or around it)

2) coolant sensor gone bad (it can, but rarely happen)

3) Lastly the coolant for mercs if I don't rem wrongly is 5-yrs or 100,000km to flush once, thus if not flushed for a long time I am not sure if a choke due to rust somewhere is possible, especially if the mechs just keep adding dirty water inside)

All the best and solve it fast :)
