SINGAPORE: The latest COE results in the Second Open Bidding Exercise ended July 20 saw a rise in premiums for all categories except motorcycles.

The biggest jump came from the Open Category, where the certificates are usually used to buy cars. Premiums were up S$5,679 to S$74,490.

COE price for big cars (above below 1600cc) rose S$4,000 to S$72,501, while those in the small car category was up S$13 to S$56,002.

In the Goods Vehicles and Bus Category, the COE price jumped S$1,912 to S$34,502.

Motorcycle COE fell S$348 to S$2,012.

its pple like us who fuel the prices up... just dont change your car and keep what you have... being singaporeans, our car mileage is also very low.. taxi's even petrol driven manage to drive 400,000km in 3 years and the jap petrol taxi's are fine..

the problem lies in us taking 10 year loans.. and we pay say $1200 a month for a car.. and we work out that with the fancy financing scheme.... better to trade in and buy a new car at a small increase in monthly instalment rather than repair or replace wear and tear parts.

so just hold on to your rides, service car regularly and pay attention to maintenance.. we shd be able to drive for a long time on existing ride

when i got my COE at $41k 9mths ago, i thot i paid too much.

but wif the way things are going, a $100k COE may not be that far from reality.

That's the whole idea??

Yr 2005 - Total car population : 600k+

Now - Car Population: 900k+

We need to have a tighter COE growth going forward if not we will be like Bangkok or Jakarta. Cheap car also no use as you cant drive it.

Hope Govt reduce the 1.5% growth rate that is being reviewed now. Cars population allowed to growth too much during the 2007-2009 period with 3% growth rate and mind you all this are compounded growth rate!:hand:

Agree that the car population needs to be controlled. No point having cheap cars but getting sruck in jams everywhere.

Anyway, am relieved that I got my COE yesterday.. also got news that production allocation for my booking is confirmed... meanwhile, the wait continues...

Congrats on your high COE!! Feeling must be shiok....hehehe!!! :becky:

Check SGCarmart - CnC has not increase their prices - looking like they are "bent to sell"

with the "limited available COEs" by digging into their "high profit margins" like most of the ADs.

When I booked my car, COE was abt $55k & I got my COE @ $68.5K - diff $13.5K.

Actually CnC put in my max bid @ $72,898 - so CnC was willing to dig into their profit more than this $13.5K diff.

If they hold these prices, they are narrowing their diff. with the PI.

If AD dun increase prices, PI will also find it hard to increase prices too.

How long this will hold - we shall see.
