1)The seller plans to get a used car then sell his bidded nos plate!! The seller will look for a super old car with low transfer fee? How low? Below $1000 or $500? After that the seller got this old car with new bidded nos plate.

2) Then the buyer take over this old car & another transfer fee require, again how much?

3) After that the buyer transfer the bidded nos to a new car will be $100. If to a used car will be $1300? Plus he got to get rid of the old car!!

So in total of 1) + 2) + 3) transfers. There is no saving for the buyers. I m sure the seller will includes all the cost incurred to the buyer.

Based on the above example, there are in total of 3 transfer fees. Inshort, is better for buyer to bid their own nos rather than buying one from the market!! In this way, u only pay one time bidding fees to LTA & transfer fees of $300 to REPLACE yr existing car nos.

In essence it is indeed a better idea to buy a new number to save the hassle and also $$, unless it is for a old classic S plate or E series. Whether or not its SJA, SKA or SMA does not make any significance unless it happens to be your name's initials

Thank you for the summary teoh! :thumb:

Can I have your permission to copy your above post and make it sticky?

I want to use it as a reference for future bros who want to purchase a number plate for their ride.

TIA

Sure :) the credit should go to Bro 9339 who advised on the steps... key is to be able to find a COE car for transfer, else it will blow up transfer cost a lot...
