Des, if I'm not wrong, you will need to pay more if you wanna change the VRN after getting the random number, especially if you're buying the VRN from someone else. Check it out first!

I know if you bid yourself, it is $300 after getting random number. But if buy VRN from someone else, are there additional charges besides the $1300 transfer fees?

the only other fees payable:

1) the a/m that you buy the plate for

2) the a/m that you will need to pay to transfer the plate to your name (transfer fee, insurance, and kopi money):becky:

Yup...if I'm not wrong, even if you get new car, and you intend to use a bidded number, a random number will be allocated to you when you first register. Then when you replace with bidded number, pays $300.

As for buying a used number...Bro NewC180 & Blackknight is correct...$1300 transfer fees + plate + kopi money...:becky:

Additional charges...no sure liao...

Des, if you bid a number and use it to register your new car, you don't have to pay $300 and no random number is assigned. If you register a new car first and get a random number, and subsequent bid a new number and replace with the new VRN, you will then have to pay additional $300.

Oh yes, UPZ for TS, nice VRN!!!

if the new bidded number is in your name and new car is registered in your name, no further charges are needed.

U can ask them to tell you the starting numbers if register today, they can tell from the system as this is done in-house now.

Ah Heng arh! U are rite!

I've been made to understand that it's much more than $1300 if U buy the number from an existing car to put that number on an unregistered new car and even more to an existing car.

I was told, it involves many "transfer steps" to get the seller number to be yours.

I think Bro 9339 will be quite knowledgeable on this topic.

Hope he can cum in and enlighten us!

Bro Blackmers - If U are successful in bidding a new number from LTA, then it's $300 to replace the number on your existing car and $0 if the bidded number is put on a new ride.

Number retention is $100 i.e if I retain my exisiting car number for my to be registered new car.

There are professionals who will do all these steps for you for a sum of money, usually range from $600 to $800 depending on the cars that they have on hand to transfer the number plates to your Name ( transfer fees, insurance and admin fees), after that the rest of the payment is to LTA to swap numbers.

That's why it is important to ask what car is the number plate on now as it may involve a big sum of money to transfer the car to your name, and you will noticed that most of the seller will put include or exclude transfer fees.

Bro A own a SKD1X ....and selling it to Bro B .

SKD1X need to transfer from Bro A to Bro B's name before it can be use on Bro B New or used car.

This is how it works......

A very old car (with low transfer fee) will transfer to Bro A name( leg 1 <$300 ) than SKD1X will put to this very old car which is now under the name of Bro A (leg 2 $1300 ) , Now SKD1X is under Bro A name which is on this old car will be transfer to Bro B name ( leg 3 <$300 ) , Than now this old car with SKD1X is under Bro B name, do a transfer to Bro B New car ($0) , Used car ($1300) .

Getting or selling a Old register VRN will involved lot of transfer fee and fee to LTA , that's why New VRN are bidded at higher price now.

Do take note on the transfer fee and fee to LTA when getting a 'used' VRN .

Is a random of +- 300 nos......

You can check it on onemotoring yourself too....

But what is the point ? Example 2k - 3k series or 8k-9k series , you might get nos like 2114, 2414 , 3414 ,3424 , 8442 , 8441 , 9413 ....I not giving 2moro 4D nos hor......

Go and bid a new nos for yourself lor, can afford go for the single or 2 digit, if not can always go for the 4 digit which got some meaning for yourself.....

I got all my New vrn 9339 for less than 1300 previously ..... and my latest 27 for <$3000 include all fee to LTA , hahaaaaa...... Luck and lobang !

Thank U Bro randy for the VRN transfer enlightenment!:hand:

That's why I "give up" the idea buying a number from an exisiting seller.

Hope good luck this Friday results out heng heng kena number.

The $$$ involve with so many "complicated transfer here and there"

If not try try again....hehehe!

Sorry TS for OT but I think it's relevant for potential buyer to know the $$$ involve before they go & buy a VRN from an exisitng car!

Hi Bro 9339, thanks for the information. That is good information for me too! Can i clarify on leg 2 of $1300 per below?

leg 2 $1300 (Since this plate is under my name and not with any car now, should the cost be $300 instead of 1300?)

Thanks!

Ok, let me ask you, did you pay to LTA $1000 or $100 to retain your nos ?

If you pay $1000 just add another $300 to put it at a used car.

If you pay only $100, than you would have to top up $900 + $300 to put it at a used car.

Your case would be- Since your nos already on a paper now, get a old used car and register it under your name, pay the $1000(paid) or $900 + $300 to put your nos on this old car , than transfer the old car name from you to your buyer , than your buyer can either retain it up on a paper like what you have done or straight transfer to his New / Used car.

Hope it is much clear for you now.

Hi Bro 9339,

After bidding, this number has not been used at all to any car. So, how I only need to pay $300 to put it on used car right?

If i understand correctly yes!

If the used car is under your name! Yes! U pay only $300

If someone want to buy the number from U, U have to transfer that used car with the bidded number to the buyer name.

If your used car "cost a lot", it doesn't make sense for the transfer of the used car to the buyer unless it's a very old car near scrap with very low transfer fee.

So if U do not have an old used car with very little transfer fee, then U have to buy an old car to transfer this number and pay $300 to it.

Bro randy is saying that there are people who help VRN buyer & seller do all these transfers and the fee they charged and what LTA charges for each transfer made.:hand:
