Is the COMMAND Nav worth shelling out the dough for?

Alamak, TS wanna get some opinions of the Comand and now this thread machiam everyone wanna quarrel one........buay swee leh.

Okay, TS

I had Comand NTG4 installed in my W204 more than 1-1/2 years liao and yes, the old map sucks. I was pointed to the the sea when I input the correct co-ordinates of the seafood restuarant in M'sia.

Now updated with the latest map and it's quite accurate for Sgp even for M'sia.

Garmin is good cos I'm also using the 1460 and the advantage is free update for M'sia & Sgp map. It's portable you can key the co-ordinates at any where ain't like Comand need to be in the car turn the knob to destination co-ordinates and set it. However the 1460 is 5" screen only hence, the visual effect is inferior compared to Comand 7" screen (Can see movie, if X-rated one hair also clearly seen one hor! teo bo, blackmercs and unkle leng tao...whahaha).

TS, if the Comand is within your budget go for it. When you listen to Chinese. Hokkien or Canto song it can display Chinese characters sibey shiok one but it also very hao lian because the voice activation speaks/listens only ang mo doesn't understand tng lan.....nnbz the Comand!

Imagine a chio bu inside your car and you say "thia kwa" instead of "music register" and song starts ... priceless hor!!

By constantly allowing camber to solicit for business here by not subscribing himeself to be a paid member contravene 1 of the cardinal rules of this wonderful 'Level Paying Field' & transparent forum -no?

So dun come and "accuse" us having double standards and let unpaid member solicit for private business.

Next the TS started to ask about Comand, U came in to rant your your "useless comand" cos U have a map that do that live up to your expectations.

You want people to share your opinion that the Comand is a useless pc of equipment becos your map do not live to your expectation.

I reiterate again that your GPS is as good as your map.

Blame your map and dun blame the GPS!

Furthermore navi is only 1 feature of the comand!

There are many more things that the Comand can do!

Did U share that with TS or U just want to keep ranting about your poor map?

TS question is: "Is the COMMAND Nav worth shelling out the dough for?". And after reading his first post again, yes, TS is deciding whether he should go for the Comand based mainly how good the NAV part is.

So Luci's answer is not wrong. He is saying that the Nav part is crap as the map is not updated. He did not mention about camber in his first reply, until jtang asked him to get map updates from camber, then the rest is history lio....

I believe Luci has been 'misled' that camber is not a site sponsor, cos camber's 'title' is 'junior member' and not 'site sponsor'. I was also thinking why is he not a site sponsor too. Mods please update if you think it is good to do so.

I don't have the luxury to have the Comand in my Merc (oh, ex-Merc to be exact), but I did experience how good it was when I was in Germany using Germany maps (of course la). The Comand is a damn good piece of equipment. How good is the SGP/MY maps then I don't know lio.

Not taking any sides here, just reading through the posts as an outsider. And I also think that the comments on Luci's education/england is totally uncalled for.

Dear SGMerc community,

I believe enough people has voiced their views and I see this thread will no longer serve the TS objective.

I've decided to lock up this thread unless the admin think it likewise.

Any parties if they have any further "grievances" can pm the Admin of this forum and bring it to their attention.

To the TS, if U still have the interest to find out more about COMAND and also the Navi feature.

I will try my best to arrange for U to view from forum members who have retrofitted COMAND with the latest 2011 S.E.A maps so U can see it 1st hand any limitations of NAV in COMAND.

A reminder to members to refrain from uncall for remarks or personal attacks.
