Hi there bro,

My headlight is getting a bit of yellowish and some scratches. Thought of polishing them but don;t know where to do this in Sg.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, IMHO if u are able to DIY, then go search and watch headlight polish videos on youtube, then buy a standard kit (3M etc) to self polish. Otherwise IMHO I have yet heard of a shop that can TRULY polish a set of headlights to its original state at a low cost. If there is, please let me know too :)

Yellow got 2 kind: inside the casing and outside. Inside one no cure cos open up means mist n foggy etc, outside one + scratches polishing "may" help, but u MUST use sealant to seal the newly polished surface else it will turn yellowish even faster (under the sun). From my understanding its the factory sealant turning yellow in the first place.

Depending on your car, buying a new set of headlights from Ebay etc may at times be a better and more exciting choice.

Try Autobacs, they hv this service. No worries of dismantle the headlight & assemble it back. My 2 previous ride on angel eye thingy which needs to dismantle the headlight for installation. Both survive the seepage issue.

But what actioneer advise you got to do take note too. Else paste a sticker film as jonny suggestion, simple & nice mods.

The yellowish is on the outer surface. As for DIY, I read and watched youtube videos.

More like using sandpapers of different grade, coarse to finer, with water.

My worry, if do already, instead of getting better, it got worst, then LL.

So sourcing around. As for buying new lights, Cargym or Automag should be a good option

Yo bro the BMW angel eye thingy is something I noticed as well, BMW lamps assembly must be very tight/well done since most BMW doesn't fog or mist up after opening/reseal, unlike Jap cars. :)

Autobacs doesn't polish very yellowish ones. About 1-2 Years back I paid the Eunos one once, the guy see, action abit, say cant be done. I bought a kit and tried myself, no determination or the kit don't work, so bought a new headlight set from local supplier.

IMHO if got the heart to buy a new set, then gar gar buy the sand paper + kit and give it a good shot :) If fail then install the new set lor, if work then saves the $ and gain an invaluable kang hu and experience :bounce:

BMW or not is the same. Is the skill that matter, if after dismantle got mist. Reseal then switch on the headlights for few hours the mist be gone for good.

Agreed on the trial & error theory :).

Car not here yet Mr. Chua!

Next year hope grandfather got budget to change Pleasure Island old Jeep to another jeep or "good suv"

This year budget has gone to a new passenger van.

Looks like grandfather $$$ not so forthcoming cos Pleasure Island car prices have gone up thru the years.

New Prado is abt $100k & I may have to "downgrade" when grandfather hand out the $$$ for a new ride next year :Cry::Cry:

So meanwhile checking out all the possible SUVs available in Pleasure Island & put it up for 2012 budget.....hehehe! :becky:

Still keen to instal Comand NTG 2.5? PM me if U do!

Take care Bro!!!!

Huh?? I m speaking from real experience :). Mercedes nothing much to mods kinda boring, even a strut bar hard to come by.

Usually the guys are asking -:

1) HID or xenon

2) AMG rims or replica rims

3) BBK, again AMG or brembo

4) Ipod interface, some called it MMI or UCI

5) Command thanks to our site sponsor

6) grille & Bodykit

7) ECU

8) interior LED & accesseories like door pin

9) suspension & lower spring. Coilover is kinda overkill

10) air filter

I guess the above up the mods list :)

On the contrary iPod Interface, MMI & UCI are 3 different things!

The latest to UCI is UCI Plus! It has no karaoke but SMS & IIRC emails too :becky:

Probably bro camber53 or bro ricric_lo can explain better in more details what these 3 items do.

Just got my headlight polished....in Sin Min. they have to dismantle it and polish inside. Look brand new now.....the mechanic assured me that it will not cause any leak as they have done many before....anyway can always go back if any problem.

Damage :- 2 blue notes..

Saving over $1000 plus ( xenon) . a satisfied customer...

So far, have survived for last 2 days of rain...nice nice no leakage. It took me 6 mths to have the courage to try it out...worry about mist and leakage...etc etc

Went to autobac and few other workshops but none can help....cos it need to be polished from inside... Finally got this contact... Ah Lim.

It is a full day job, don't rush them... you should be happy with the outcome.

You may contact the boss Ah Lim 91811947. Workshop in Sin Ming and they do a lot of servicing for merc as well. Price very reasonable..

Disclaimer :- I'm not related to him at all..in fact just know him and want to share this info with our bro here...POLISH at your OWN RISK !!!:bounce::bounce::bounce:
