Hi Ryeoh1969,

Frankly, I am a layman in this, I do not know if retrofitting done by external workshop other than the agent, will the warranty void or any issue with LTA in term of compliance, example the illumination factor of the bulb as compared to the original factory fitted type, this is my fear, of course, who would wants to spend the $5300 which is really expensive for 2 set of intell-light package.

Perhaps, we should find out what is the different between those installed at CnC or external workshop. We can compare the workmanship or breakdown of jobs required for such retrofitting. For $5300, CnC may have also includes something else extra we don't know of.

Else, we can also wait for Bro Benson to start the ball rolling as suggested by Bro Kepiting1sg.

Hi andylkkg,

The intelligent light package was listed as an option in the option lists --> $5300 is the cost we pay for factory fitting in Germany. SE say local pandan workshop would not do it.

But if enough number of people petition they may change their mind ... .?? SE also claim if do outside warranty void ?

Wow u guys are serious getting the xenon. You guys need a pair xenon & meddle with electrical circuits in yr car with relays & wiring. Forget the auto levelling the manual will do. Lastly hoping this experiment won't fried yr car system & this person must be good in the electrical stuffs. Good luck on this project.

Parking here!!

One tough nut to crack is the locked ECU.

Dun think many owner want potential tuner to rip out the ECU to do the remapping.

hi kepiting1sg,

you are right..

i started ripping out and soldering/desoldering ECU for conti cars quite a few years ago as that was the only way to modify the settings on the ECU for some type of ECU (e.g. med 7.9.10) at that point in time.

And i would suggest that only as one of the last results, and only if there is capability to RECOVER from a failure.

right now, I'm working on inserting my custom maps/tunes into a separate device (not off the shelf stuff) for the VAG guys.. will transport these into my C180 cgi when my ride arrives.

Apparently, I've been assigned a Chassis Number already. I hope they will register my car ASAP :)

Once U placed your order, CnC will locked in your ride with the Chassis number.

I have been given a chassis number for my new ride but I m told it's on it way here. Yours could be in the port waiting for CnC to pay the taxes.

This time round, I like the waiting.....hehehe!

Hi Ryeoh1969,

The SE did not indicates or stated that warranty will be void, however, he is asking me to wait and see if the workshop which always done the retrofitting for merc's stuff could do it and at what kind of price they are charging, therefore, the areas of warranty void or not is still grey. Specifically, if that is too hassle, I might give it a miss or else last resort, just change the bulb only. Still hope for a good final conclusion considering all the "messy" rewiring works required to retrofit!:pray2:

IMHO this is not much diff from our site sponsor Sonic Racing is doing i.e to change your halogen H7 bulb to H.I.D bulb with the exception as claimed by the seller the ballasts are equipped for canbus thus without the need of using error cancellors. Original Philips with Canbus H7 can set U back by $300+ a set.

CnC will not do such retrofits & will do it at the point of ordering your ride.

Even if U want to pay $5300 now or even organize a GB, IMHO I dun think CnC will want to do the retrofit.

As I said earlier, there are a few ways to do your lamps.

1. Just change your low beam H7 to after market H.I.D

2. Buy the whole C350 headlamp & get someone to do the wiring & possibly to enable Xenon present in your ride without the original auto levellers.

This kind of mod has been done on some early W203 C Class.

Matter of fact I bought the whole headlamps with projector lighting from Benzline. Another one of our moderator CKlasse has done that for his ride too but U lose the adjustment control for the headlamp height.

3. Wait for Bro Hansson to retrofit his own ride with original headlamps & parts including auto levellers and wired it up as per factory wirings.

He has done this similar kind of retrofit for the VW Passat CC over at VAGSG forum. He is one of the many site sponsor there.

So if U want a proper retrofit done other than CnC who will not do, then be patient for Hansson to be his own guinea pig.

My Rp2 worth!

If U guys just replace the H7 bulb with HID, U will missed the LED C shaped nite light like in the C350.

If U change the whole lamp assembly to C350, it might be successful or not unless someone try it out but U will not have the auto-levellers.

This I believe soon U will have people like Benzline selling these lamps when it's "technically easy" to retrofit by the workshop here.

That's why I said guys - be patient!

If Hansson self surgery works and with all factory fitted parts & wirings - then it;s business for him too!

I believe he has also plans to self surgery to remap his C180 by ripping off his ECU and do the remap on the bench. Something not for the faint hearted.

A "fried ECU" will easily cost U $6K up.

I have to declare that I've no business dealing of any sort with Hansson.
