Curious mah!

Wanna be enlightened!

Last time had W203 sat under the bodhi tree couldn't find enlightenment!

When I had my W203 like guys buying W204, buy the C180 save the money & tuned up the extra horses....guess history keep repeating itself!

I guess U have no regrets getting the C250 & enjoying your drive very muchee!

I am also checking on the OBD tuning for my E250 CGI.

Was quoted 0-100km/h with the tuning is 7.1sec. Thought this will be a more interesting measurement than the butt feel. Not sure if this is real, but is the improvement worth it?

Any real users could share actual experience?

Time to give my 2 cents worth.

Fixed up the tuning box. It is applicable for CGI engines.

Personal opinions as follows:

Pros

Hardware mod and not exactly software.

Easily removable before you go for servicing.

It is also transferable which means you can sell it off when you sell your ride.

Car is move responsive and REVable.

If you really floor the car, man, it really can go.

Must drive more aggressively for 300km for the car to get used to the kit.

In terms of fuel consumption, there is no change but it's supposed to improve. Will update after a few more tanks.

Can convert to stock mode by changing the connection in the engine bay.

You can also see if there's a difference.

Cons

Have not tried any throttle controller or sprint booster so no comparisons can be made.

Car is more eager to go but handling of the car can be further improved. Coilovers, strut bars etc. :becky:

Other branded tuning houses cost a hand and a leg so for the price of this kit, it's worth a try. Furthermore, not much mods for the e-class so for those who have an itch, go for it.

Above statements are my personal views. Don't flame me.

Hi Bro,

Thanks for the review on the tuning kit. I am actually also eyeing on getting a set from Dave but I dont really understand how this 'tuning kit' work. So is it a flashkit that you simply stick into the OBD port in the car to do the magic? Or do you have to connect a device to a certain circuit in the engine bay? If its the latter, is the entire device removable since any trace of installation will probably void our warranty isnt it?

Also I am also wondering if there is a different kit on offer for rides with Dynamic handling package?

Cheers,

Just had the OBD installed on my E250 by Dave at my workplace Carpark. Was really an easy procedure just plug in the tuning device to the connection point at engine bay, tied up the cables running around and finished within half an hour.

Our CGI engine is still locked thus only way now is via piggy back. Compared to previous software upgrade for my previous ride (E60 523), this is a very decent priced upgrade!

Similar upgrade by MKB will cost more than 2 times!

Will test the effect and report back.

Do provide feedback on:

1. Drive feel

2. Noise level

3. FC

4. Does all things feel the same but power on demand with less turbo lag?

5. Any other feelings?

6. cons

No chance to really test as traffic jam during the usual off work rush, and rushed back home for dinner.

Not sure what noise you are referring, but mine still as quiet as what a mercs should be. Rev more easily though but will need to test more tomorrow.

Oh ok ok, just taught that with more power , probably exhaust sound louder?

As long as it sass quiet as before with more power then must be very shiok!

Cant wait for your full review!

The tuning box is placed in the engine bay and it's a matter of connecting it to a few ports. Afaik there'll be no signs of modification as there are no additional cutting or work done on the engine bay. Just plug and play. Just unplug and remove. :)

Thanks for the invitation! Couldn't join the gathering as busy with shifting into new home though.

Will test the tuning the next 1-2 days and perhaps after the next refill when I managed to clock 200km as per required for the ecu to adapt.

Will report back definitely.

Don't have time to do the dyno test.... Perhaps anyone else who installed it could do it and share.

Cheers!

Sorry was traveling and not much chance to test it fully.

Only can feel that it is more kick when drive in "S" mode. If drive in "C" mode, the difference is not as obvious.

Guess butt feel is not as accurate. Should check anybody did a full Dyno chart.

Actually, I agree with you. I am liaising with UK to see if there is something wrong. What setting are you on? I tried 5 and 6 and there does not appear to be any difference. I may want to do a dyno to be sure but dunno where is reliable.

the gains look low , not sure why as CGI is a turbo charged car right?
