Bonnet insulator

Hi Guys,

I found that my bonnet has no insulator material. Its pure metal.

I called C&C parts and they say there's no such parts to purchase or install.

Any idea where can i get one done?

First time my car got no bonnet insulator so not really comfortable.

Maybe merc cars don't generate so much heat in bonnet so they don't have the parts? can't be leh.

Thanks

i think it has to do with the "passenger protection - active engine hood", it is shown in our datacard... yet another safety feature from Mercedes :becky:

mine's w245...... maybe the product guy i spoke to from pandan loop is blur..... will try to ask the service centres again. i notice there a clips in the bonnet that indicate that there should be some part number product to do a direct bolt on.

Actually what is the purpose of the insulator? So that it is not hot to touch after you stop the engine? Hmm I can't think of any reason why.

Someone pls enlighten?

IIRC,

insulates against heat from the engine to bonnet. protects the paint... oxidation... color drop.

insulates against sounds coming from engine compartment.. machaim ear plug..

insulates against itchy fingers which go touches the hot surface... wait kena skin burn...

insulate.. insulate.. insulate.. :bounce:

Most importantly the cooler the engine it's perform better. Drive on the same road on a hot day & in the nite. U "will" feel the diffs.

Men tends to hv itchy finger is a norm.

i tink hor... the material is a lousy conductor of heat.. so it shld not trap heat ba but will dissipate the heat away faster.

Like we use kettle boil water cos metal conducts/traps heat well.

when we cold, we cover blanket. blanket dissipate the coldness away so we feel warm.

the bonnet insulator acts as a "wall" btw engine n bonnet.

engine shio shio..

Kaoz... i

u r kinda of correct,雷公 but we got a radiator in front of our ride leh..

Don't you think the insulation will trap more heat at the engine compartment? Correct me if I m wrong...

The blanket acts as insulation to prevent your body from losing heat. Only heat can move around.
